SOUND ON 🥰

If there is pain, there is no free flow; if there is free flow, there is no pain. Where there is stagnation there will be pain. Remove the stagnation & you remove the pain.
— The Huangdi Neijing

🤸🏽‍♀️ In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) “free flow” means Qi and blood moving smoothly through your body. When they flow well, you feel balanced and healthy. Stagnation causes pain and discomfort. Moving your body and mind alike helps keep that flow going and your health on point.

🧘🏻‍♀️ Movement is everything! What will you do today to get your body moving?

I treat many women suffering from first trimester sickness with acupuncture and TCM theory. It not only helps to ease symptoms but also provides you ladies with some “me” time while navigating first trimester.

Here’s what the evidence is saying…

“According to the current systematic review and meta-analysis, acupuncture combined with western medicine (WM) may be a more effective treatment for nausea and vomiting of pregnancy than WM alone. Furthermore, acupuncture may be as effective as WM”.

While treatment is individualised, I will send you home with some standard acupuncture points that you can massage in between your acupuncture sessions if symptoms flare. I will guide you on how to use these points to deliver acupressure on yourself, empowering you with tools to get through this period! 👏🏻

Gua Sha is not as painful as it looks! I personally think it feels quite satisfying 🙋🏻‍♀️

Gua Sha involves using a smooth edged tool to scrape the skin in specific areas, promoting circulation, alleviating muscle tension and moving stagnation.

My favourite tools to use are these pretty devices … Chinese soup spoons or something as simple as a jam jar lid!

🔍As trained practitioners, we can identify areas of stagnation (the darker areas over the shoulders and neck) while being aware of underlying deficiencies, such as blood deficiency which is indicated by the pale pink undertone of the skin.

🥦These underlying deficiencies can be addressed by using specific blood-nourishing acupuncture points, along with nutritional & lifestyle changes.

Gua Sha is just one practice in the toolkit of a TCM acupuncturist!

Where’s your favourite area to have Gua sha?? 😄

Next in our meet the people series is a dynamic duo, Roxanna and Saoirse of lietclinic

“Roxana opened Liet Clinic in 2023 following her own experience of living with autoimmune disease. Her passion is helping people with chronic and autoimmune conditions improve their quality of life through acupuncture and an integrative approach to health. Alongside acupuncture, she has studied Functional Medicine and completed two years of Master's-level study in Functional Nutrition.

Saoirse joined the clinic in 2025 after first meeting Roxana while studying for their degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture. She has a particular interest in women's health and fertility.

A little-known fact about us is that our friendship grew from a shared love of the outdoors. When we're not in clinic, you'll often find us hiking, paddleboarding or exploring new places.

What we love most about Bawtry is its strong sense of community. We feel privileged to be part of such a welcoming and supportive town.

Thank you, Bawtry, for making us feel at home.”

Many people don’t realise how acupuncture can support their overall health. I’ll be sharing some of the evidence that shows just how beneficial it can be 👏🏻
