We are away but National Play Day today marks 8 years of being a self-employed Play Therapist and I'm ever so grateful for taking those steps onto a path unknown.

While I am full for Play Therapy clients, I do have space for supervisees and those seeking coaching for setting up in private practice - one of my fave topics as it changed my life for the better, despite making a lot of interesting choices along the way!

It's also hard for me to be away without the laptop as I booked this break long before I knew exam results would be here for students I've been fortunate enough to teach this year 🙏🙏

Just a few of my littlest's play materials this weekend 🥰🙈☺️ Can you guess what they were up to?!

And as my lovely supervisor reminded me today it's International Supervision Week this week, I just wanted to remind you that I supervise professionals, whether therapists or not.

When this pudding starts their funded nursery hours in Sept, I have 2 Play Therapy supervision spaces, suitable for students and qualified therapists. Message or email me if you want to find out if we'd be a good fit - I'm experienced in private practice, trauma work, creative supervision and can meet in person in a radius of Newport, and online.

Been asked 3 times in a few weeks whether I prefer teaching about counselling, counselling children and young people or supervising and the truth is, I love it all! Different days are hard for different reasons and exam and portfolio season is adding to that but half-term is coming...

I feel so fortunate when I teach people older than me that I found counselling early on in my career and got to train before my 30s, and before my 2nd child.

As I prepare for my birthday Sat (walking weekend last week with Mamau Ffit one of my early presents!) I am keen to keep doing more of what I love in the year ahead, but to get better at the organisation so I am not marking late at night or early doors 😴😴😴

Had the loveliest welcome yesterday from Calming the storms counselling when I was last one in to a training I didn't know she would be at. Definitely contact her if you are over 18 and looking for support.

I said half way through, I'm not really doing anything with my business but that isn't true, I have some fab support with Kellie Vvind at the moment, and I have been freelancing through it over the last year as well as being employed as a counselling tutor and CYP counsellor. I'll return to Supervision soon, and recently supported onnsome CPRT training for fellow Play Therapists with Lisa from so yma o hyd!

Excited to deliver this course with Lisa Gordon-Clark of PlayFully, this time without a 5 week old baby who wasn't gaining weight fast enough for professional's liking... ❤️

We are hosting it in the most gorgeous therapeutic centre in Newport, easily accessible from M4 and train/bus stations, so you could make a May Day bank holiday out of it.

If you are, or know a Play Therapist who is available on May 2nd and 3rd for some CPD to support families by teaching them Play Therapy skills then please come along.

We are both clinical supervisors, tutors and Play Therapists who walk the walk. I'm a University of South Wales Play Therapy alumni and Lisa was the lead for University of Roehampton Online Play Therapy courses so lots of experience in the room.

Just a girl cuddling her teddy bear who she put a hat on, with mess in the background, coming with her mummy to remind you that:

You haven't failed if your child isn't picking up A level results today.

You haven't failed if your EHCP/IDP meetings take longer than parents' evenings.

You haven't failed if you're the one educating your child, and exams would be something that trigger them or cause an internal storm.

And if you have, and you're proud of them and shout that across the rooftops today, that's okay too. I can imagine you are an expert on accomodations and making sure your child is valued for who they are.

School is not the be all and end all, and I know many amazing Play Therapists who took a different route in to supporting children and their families.
