My gorgeous twin grandchildren came to stay for the weekend, and we made the most of every minute.
While Noah went to the play park opposite my horses’ field with his dad, Nancy chose to stay with Nana B.
“I want to pick poo!”
I told her she didn’t have to. It was dusty and dirty, but she was determined. Bucket in one hand, poo picker in the other, she happily wandered around the field, singing away to herself.
I have absolutely no idea what she was singing, but it was the sweetest little tune. I think we all have those little ditties that wander around our heads when we’re quietly getting on with life.
It made me think of the saying, “Chop wood, carry water.” Whether it’s chopping wood, carrying water, or p**p picking, it’s often in those simple, repetitive moments that we become truly present. Our minds settle, our nervous systems slow down, and our best thoughts seem to appear.
Maybe that’s why I don’t mind p**p picking. It’s time in nature, with the horses, away from the noise of everyday life.
Isn’t it beautiful how children can find so much joy in the simplest things? Perhaps they’re reminding us that happiness isn’t always found in doing something extraordinary. Sometimes it’s simply in being present while we do the ordinary. ✨💗🌸
