Port Talbot Funeral Service

Port Talbot Funeral Service Independent Funeral Services | Private Chapel of Rest | 24 Hour Personal Service It closed its doors in 2008 as a Church and was left to deteriorate.

Holy Cross Church, otherwise known as the Chapel of Ease was built in 1827 with the permission of Margams 'Talbot' family. Plans were sought to change the Church into a house, which included relocating several headstones and surfacing over those graves to provide a parking area. However, Mr Malcolm Evans, a lifelong member of the Church and local funeral director purchased this beautiful building

and restored it to its former glory including the magnificent stained glass window. The surrounding grounds are also maintained meaning the final resting place for your loved ones is both a beautiful and peaceful place to visit.

🐐 Goat Update 🐐

After much speculation, we can confirm that our goats (does) are not pregnant. We’ve had the vets out to check them over and confirm for us.

Whilst it would have been amazing to suddenly have a few little kids roaming around the grounds causing even more mischief, it seems our famous four will be staying as they are for now! 😂

The goats are all doing really well, happy and healthy, and continuing to do a fantastic job helping us manage the overgrowth around the grounds.

Thank you again for all the interest, support, and questions about them, it’s safe to say they’ve well and truly become part of the community now. 🐐

For those who may be interested, we currently have one of our Daimler vehicles positioned on the drive of the church for people to come and view 🚘

This is one of several classic vehicles we are currently working on and carefully restoring, including the former Queen Mother’s car, with the aim of bringing them back to their former glory.

These vehicles hold a great deal of history and character, and we know many people enjoy seeing them up close as they pass by the church.

Feel free to stop by and take a look if you’re in the area 💜

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported our first Community Volunteer Day at the church today 💜

We are incredibly grateful to Eleanor, both Karens, Alison and Poppy, along with members of the Taibach Community Support Group, for giving up their time to help us continue caring for the church and surrounding grounds.

Throughout the day, volunteers helped tidy the front areas of the church, while others worked hard inside polishing the pews and helping bring a new shine to the building. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a real difference and is hugely appreciated.

It was also lovely to see so many local families stopping by throughout the day to visit the goats, who as always proved very popular! 🐐

Days like today show the real strength of community spirit, and we’re so thankful for the support we continue to receive.

We hope to see you all again soon 💜

🐐 Weekly Goat Update 🐐

If you spot our goats standing up on the wall, don’t be alarmed… they absolutely love it up there! Safe to say they’re a very nosey bunch and like keeping an eye on everything that’s going on around the grounds. 👀

Despite the climbing and posing for photos, they’re actually doing a fantastic job helping clear the overgrowth around Holy Cross. There’s certainly plenty to keep them busy… although at this rate we might need another army of goats to come and give them a helping hand! 😂

We’re also hoping to make some really good progress during our volunteer day on Sunday as we continue our commitment to caring for and maintaining the grounds respectfully for the community.

Thank you again to everyone who continues to support, visit, and follow the adventures of our now famous four. 🐐

Just a reminder that our Community Day takes place this Sunday from 11am – 3pm at the Former Holy Cross Church 💜

Over recent months, we’ve been working hard to care for and improve both the church and surrounding grounds, and we’d love for the community to be part of that journey.

There will be a range of small jobs both inside and outside, including:
🌿 Gardening and tidying graves
🪵 Polishing wooden pews
🧹 General clearing and upkeep

Teas and coffees will be provided, and whether you can spare an hour or the whole afternoon, all help and support is greatly appreciated.

Local businesses are also warmly invited to get involved and support the day.

Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to come together as a community and help preserve a place that means so much to so many people.

If you’d like to attend, please drop us a message to let us know 💜

🐐 Weekly Goat Update 🐐

We’ve loved seeing so many people stopping by to visit the goats over the past weeks, and it’s been lovely to see them enjoying the occasional treat from visitors too.

If you’d like to come and feed them, you’re more than welcome. Their favourites seem to be apples and carrots 🍎🥕

If you do hand feed them, just remember no sudden movements as they can get a little excited when food appears! If you’re not too sure about getting up close, simply leaving the treats on the ground and in sight works just as well.

Please also remember to close the gate safely behind you when entering or leaving the grounds so we can keep our four little celebrities safe and secure. 🐐

Feel free to pop in, see the goats, and have a chat with our staff members if we’re around.

While the goats have become a much loved part of the community, they’re also helping us as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the grounds naturally and respectfully… although we think they quite enjoy the treats every now and again too! 😊

This afternoon, we wanted to show our appreciation to some of the team for their continued hard work, dedication and commitment by treating them to food from Wanna Thai Food.

Behind every service we provide is a team that works tirelessly, often quietly behind the scenes, to support families with care, dignity and compassion during some of life’s most difficult moments.

It’s important to us that we recognise that commitment and take time to thank those who give so much to the families we support.

A big thank you to the team at Wanna Thai Food for the fantastic food and service.

We’ve been a little quieter on social media over the past 10 days.

That time has given us the opportunity to reflect on the past few months, the work that has been going into the church, the surrounding grounds, and the service we provide to the families who place their trust in us.

A lot of what we do happens behind the scenes, often in quiet moments, with care, attention and respect at the heart of everything. From maintaining the chapel of rest to continuing improvements around the grounds, every detail matters to us.

We are incredibly grateful for the support and encouragement we’ve received from the community. It reassures us that the work being done is meaningful, and it motivates us to keep moving forward.

Thank you for continuing to support us on this journey.

We are truly grateful to receive such kind words following a service we supported last week.

Every funeral is deeply personal, and it means a great deal to us to know that the time spent in the church, the care taken throughout the day, and the overall service brought comfort to the family when it mattered most.

We simply do our very best to ensure that each farewell is handled with care, dignity and respect, creating a meaningful and fitting tribute for your loved one.

Thank you for placing your trust in us, and for allowing us to be part of such an important moment. 🕊️
