Med3 Music was set up in 1993 by social services, and until funds were withdrawn in March 2009,were supported by local authority & managed by Portsmouth Mind. The dismay shown by members and their reaction to the news that the service was no longer being funded prompted the musical professional and the mental health support worker to commit to keeping the service going on an independent basis. Med

3 Music set themselves up as a constituted non-profit making organisation with a voluntary management committee of 3 non-related elected members. The team have worked successfully with the group for approximately 20 years and are experienced in encouraging participation and supporting disadvantaged vulnerable people through music. A strong bond of trust has been established between them & the members. Their commitment is evidenced by the fact that they continued to run the group independently following funding cuts in 2009. In the weekly 4 hour session members of the group participate in playing instruments, singing and listening to and encouraging each other. If not feeling up to taking part they still enjoy the social interaction of meeting with friends for tea, biscuits & a chat. We provide a sense of family, support & social interaction for those who may otherwise be socially isolated.

What a wonderful session today's med3 was. Some truly beautiful music and singing today. Some lovely harmonies. I am on a bad day today. So to have the honour just to sit and be serenaded (i know it wasn't just for me, but it felt like it) really lifted my spirit. Thank you.
Would be lovely to see a few more of you. If there's any budding bassists, dynamic drummers, playful pianists, soulful singers, hey even a sassy saxophonist (!!!!) then please come along. Even if you just want to sit and chat. There's plenty of space for that too.

Hi. Lovely session today. Again. Despite the boiling hot weather.
We are slowly organising the storage space. Having worked out what leads were needed for the electric piano, they are now in a labelled bag, so next time we use it, it will be an easy set up.
Lovely to have Bill with us today playing bass guitar. And the huge rock 'n' roll medley went down very well.

Hello. It's Vanessa. Finally got round to being admin to the group.
The group is ticking over nicely. No one has melted in the sun so far. Nice to see Helen Worster at our practise today. You've been missed.
