How's your energy today?

By Thursday, my body is usually asking me to slow down. Not because I'm lazy... but because I've been "on" all week.

People often ask why I call my class Balance Flow.

For me, it's not about balancing on one leg. It's about finding balance within ourselves. Balancing movement with stillness, effort with ease, breath with body, and gently quietening a busy mind.

We move slowly, intuitively, and without pressure, simply giving ourselves space to breathe and reconnect.

If your week has felt full, I'd love to welcome you next evening.

I went for a bike ride this Saturday in the New Forest, and it reminded me how much I need nature.

No headphones. No rushing. Just the sound of the birds, the breeze through the trees, and the chance to switch off for a while.

It's amazing how quickly the mind starts to settle when we give ourselves a little space.

That's one of the reasons I love yoga so much. It's not just about moving the body—it's about creating moments where we can slow down, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves.

I'm curious... where do you go when you need to reset? Is it the beach, the woods, the water, or somewhere else?

I'd love to discover a few new local spots.

I thought to share some yogic tips as we are about to receive another heatwave.

Our energy naturally changes when it's hot, so it's okay to slow down, rest more, and even have that afternoon nap if your body is asking for it.

A few simple yogic ways to stay balanced:
- Be gentle with yourself. We become less productive, so listen to yourself, take a nap if you need it.
- Gentle movement or restorative yoga instead of strong movement.
- Try a cooling breath—in through your teeth, out through your nose.
- Eat light, nourishing foods and enjoy cooling fruits like melon, pears and grapes.
- Don't drink icey cold drinks, as this weakens our digestion. Add fresh mint or cucumber to your water for a refreshing lift.

Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is listen to what our body needs.

How are you keeping cool this week? 💛

The unpredictable reality of teaching yoga. Teaching yoga is never quite as peaceful as people imagine... 😂

These are just a few of my favourite stories.

Now it's your turn...
Teachers, what's the funniest thing that's happened in one of your classes? 👇

I've been thinking recently about how lucky we are to have so many beautiful places to move our bodies here in Portsmouth.

One week I might be teaching by the water at Hilsea Lido, another surrounded by trees at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, and then later in a peaceful studio in Southsea.

Teaching in these places is something I never take for granted, and seeing people leave class feeling lighter and more rested makes it even more special.

I'm curious... where's your favourite place locally to switch off and recharge? Is it the beach, the woods, the water, or somewhere completely different?
