Our Person-Centred Personal Care Training focused on seeing care from the resident’s perspective. 💙

During the session, team members fed each other and helped wash each other’s hands to better understand what it feels like to rely on support with eating, grooming, and personal care.

For many of our residents, this support is part of everyday life, which is why taking a resident-led, person-centred approach is so important. 🤝🫧

Another myth we're addressing in our Ardale Answers series is that residents are confined to the home and follow strict schedules.

The reality at Ardale is life in our homes is shaped by the people who live here. 💙

Residents regularly enjoy trips out, families are always welcome to take loved ones out, and daily life is guided by individual choices and preferences.

Some residents may need support when leaving the home, but this is simply to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

Because care home living should support independence, not limit it!

Recently at work, someone brought in a fake arm...

Before you start worrying, it was all for venepuncture training at Ardale! 💉

Our team are already highly experienced, so this session was less about learning the basics and more about keeping skills sharp, building confidence, and refreshing best practice. 👏📚

At Potters Grange, everything we do is centred around creating a warm, family style home 💙 which is why we include a resident in the interview process when welcoming new team members!

She has created her own questions from a resident’s perspective, ensuring resident input is part of choosing staff in our home. Questions like:
✨ “How do you show residents compassion?”
✨ “What inspired you to become a carer?”

Our management team makes the final decision, but resident input is a really valued part of the process, helping us choose people who feel right for life in our home.

This approach reflects how things are done at Ardale, where person-led care is part of everyday life and residents help shape their own care.
