The body is incredibly clever.
When something hurts, feels weak or doesn’t move as well, the body finds another way.
For years after breaking my tibia, fibula and ankle, I unknowingly shifted more weight through my left side. The injury healed, but the compensation pattern remained.
But compensation isn’t just caused by injuries.
It can develop from the way we sit, stand, work, drive, carry bags or hold our children.
Often, the area that feels tight or uncomfortable isn’t the root cause. It’s simply working harder to compensate for something else.
The body works as one connected system, which is why understanding the bigger picture is so important.
