Karl has wrapped up all his face to face consultations for the day at our Surgery — finishing on a high with a referral from our fantastic Occupational Therapy Team at St Helens South PCN.

In his final appointment, Karl helped his patient make sense of the often complicated benefits system, offering clear guidance and much needed support. The patient was genuinely grateful for his help.

It is moments like these that show the real impact our team makes every single day.

Karl has just wrapped up his third face to face consultation of the afternoon — and he is still going strong. Today he supported a patient who is caring for their mum, and he made sure they knew all about the brilliant help available through Knowsley Carers Hub. A quick registration could open the door to so much support.

He also chatted with them about the value of having a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in place — not just for their mum, but for themselves and their partner too. It is all about planning ahead and feeling confident about the future.

We love seeing our team empower patients with the right information at the right time.

🌟 A productive afternoon for Karl!

He has just wrapped up his second face to face appointment, supporting a patient with their rehousing journey. Together, they explored applications for Property Pool Plus, Under One Roof, and Halton Housing, and Karl explained how strong, supportive medical evidence can significantly improve someone’s chances of being successfully rehoused.

They also spent time discussing the benefits of appealing a Personal Independence Payment (PIP) decision, helping the patient understand their options and feel more confident about the next steps.

Another great example of the meaningful, practical support our team provides every day 💙

Karl is now at the Surgery for his afternoon clinic

Karl has started off his afternoon clinic with a lovely bit of good news. Six weeks ago, he advised a patient regarding Attendance Allowance (AA)— and we are thrilled to share that the patient has been awarded the highest rate. A brilliant outcome and a real boost for the patient.

Now that AA is in place, and with their health needs in mind, Karl has also encouraged his patient to apply for a Council Tax reduction. It is another step that could make a meaningful difference to the patients finances and overall wellbeing.

This is exactly why we are here: helping our community access the support they are entitled to and making life that little bit easier wherever we can.

As Karl travels to the surgery today for his face to face appointments, we wanted to take a moment to share some wonderful feedback we recently received from a grateful patient:

“I just wanted to email and let you know how thankful I am for the help Karl Pearce has given to us over the past few months.

In a time of hardship and uncertainty he shines a light on a difficult day or obstacle that we face with my daughter's condition. He makes a difference just by being kind. And the knowledge there is a person who can help in situations that are beyond some people’s capabilities. Well done to the surgery.

Also, I would like to add the Receptionists have also been very helpful and lovely, not sure of names but I feel the previous months they all seem to go out of their way.

🌟 Karl has just wrapped up his third telephone review of the day!

Three weeks ago, he first spoke with this patient after a referral from one of the Care Co ordinators within St Helens South PCN. During that initial conversation, they discussed the possibility of making a Disability Living Allowance (DLA) claim for the patient’s child. Karl explained the general criteria — including that a child may qualify if they need significantly more care than others their age or if they have difficulties getting around.

Following Karl’s guidance, the patient contacted DLA and has now received the forms, which she plans to complete soon. She shared that she would not have known about this potential support without Karl raising it during their first call, and she is really grateful for the information.

Another brilliant example of how Social Prescribing helps families access the support they’re entitled to.

🌟 Karl has just completed his second telephone review of the day!

Two weeks ago, he supported this patient with advice and information about a potential Attendance Allowance (AA) claim. During that earlier conversation, Karl also identified that the patient may be eligible to apply for a Blue Badge due to difficulties with walking.

Today, Karl was able to provide a supporting letter to help with the Blue Badge application. Having a Blue Badge can make a huge difference — allowing the patient to park closer to shops and local amenities, giving them greater independence and confidence when getting out and about.

Another brilliant example of how Social Prescribing can make everyday life a little easier for our community.

🌟 Another great Social Prescribing update from Karl!

He has just finished his latest telephone appointment with a patient, and it was a really productive conversation.

Karl explained Mersey Travel’s MerseyLink service — an accessible transport option that helps people get out and about to community venues (non NHS). As this patient has felt socially isolated since COVID, this could be a brilliant way for them to reconnect, join groups, and meet new people.

Rainhill Village Hall has lots of fantastic activities happening each week, and Karl has agreed to send over details so the patient can explore what is available.

During the call, Karl also carried out a benefits check to make sure the patient is receiving the correct entitlements.

The patient said they really appreciated the call, which is always lovely to hear. Social Prescribing truly makes a difference in helping people feel supported and connected.

🌟 Karl is off to a great start this morning!

He has just wrapped up his first telephone appointment of the day — a follow up with a patient he supported a couple of weeks ago.

During the call, Karl shared details of local bereavement counselling services the patient may find helpful. He also talked them through the general criteria for making a new Personal Independence Payment (PIP) application, explaining how the points system and descriptors work, along with how to get an application started. This kind of support can make a real difference for anyone managing ongoing physical or mental health challenges.

The patient thanked Karl for his help and support, which is always wonderful to hear. Moments like this really show the impact of Social Prescribing in our community.
