Last week the amazing team, Vicky and Josh from walk on the wild side came to the home to educate the residents with their incredible collection of animals. Not only did the residents get to hold and stroke them but we learnt so much about them from their habitat to diet. It was a fabulous experience, Kate commented that she’d never seen half of the animals never mind held them before! It’s was lovely to experience meeting the animals together and supporting each other with the not so cute ones! Dave the chinchilla was our deputy manager Kirsty favourite, while head of activities Emma loved Zorro the hedgehog! The residents loved them all and can’t wait for them to visit again!

To mark carers week we decided to say a thank you to everyone, not only within the home but the wider community. We delivered chocolates and cards to places we thought made a positive contribution to the local community and our home. Pudsey leisure centre, Pudsey health centre, Pudsey library Robin Lane surgery, The Pudsey and Farsley British legion and our local councillor Trish Smith were all thanked by the staff and residents of Hutton Manor. The residents wanted to say why they enjoy living at the home and how much they appreciate all the staff do, as do the family's who dropped us lots of treats off to say thank you throughout the week. The staff who really stood out this month were rewarded for their hard work, nominated by their peers.

A little late but here is one of our May employees of the month. Trudy really is the heart of home, she is one of the longest serving employees at Hutton Manor, her dedication to the residents hard work and commitment doesn’t go unnoticed! Congratulations Trudy you’re one in a million.

We’ve had another busy weekend at Hutton Manor, Saturday saw the return of our monthly Veterans cafe, with our largest attendance to date! Our memorial garden was added to with flag pole and plaque. Then in the afternoon Stanley popped in to visit the residents and join in the arts and crafts session, which was wind chimes this week.

Exercise movement and dance have kept the residents busy this wellness Wednesday! Movement and exercise are a vital part of our activity program here at Hutton Manor, keeping the residents happy and healthy!
