Philip passed away peacefully on 23rd July 2026 aged 89 years at QMC, Nottingham.
A much loved husband of his late wife Iris, father of Andrew and Jeanette, grandfather of Liam and Kyle; he will be dearly missed.
Philip's funeral service is to be held at Loughborough Crematorium on Friday 14th August 2026 at 11:45
Donations in Philip's memory are to support the mental health charity Mind and may be left in the donation box as you leave the service, or cheques made payable to Mind may be sent via

Mary passed away peacefully on the 23rd July 2026, aged 94 years at Leicester General Hospital.
Her funeral service is to be held at St, Andrews Parish Church, Prestwold on the 11th August 2026 at 2pm.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Donations in memory of Mary are welcomed for St. Andrews Parish Church or for the Malawi Mobile Clinic and a donation box with be available in Church on the day of her service - please speak with the Funeral Directors if you wish to make a donation via post.

❓ What happens to replacement joints and surgical implants following a cremation?

Something many people may not know is that at Loughborough Crematorium, we take part in a specialist metal recycling initiative.

Following a cremation, any remaining metals such as replacement joints, screws, pins and plates can be carefully recycled. The metals are sorted and repurposed into new raw materials, helping to reduce waste and lessen the need for newly sourced metals, making the process both environmentally responsible and sustainable.

The proceeds generated through this initiative are then donated to a number of worthwhile charities, including one very close to our heart, Rainbows Hospice.

Families also have the option to request that these items are returned alongside the ashes of their loved one, should they wish.

We understand there are many parts of the cremation process people may not be aware of, and we hope some of our FAQs help provide reassurance and understanding 🌿

David Sydenham of Woodhouse Eaves passed away peacefully at home on Friday 22nd May aged 83 years.
Beloved husband of Heather, loving father of Fiona, Catriona and Christopher, and grandfather to Hector, Hayden, Isadora, Poppy and Florence.
David was an engineer and founded local business CMS Cepcor, of which he was Chairman at the time of his death.
David's memorial service is to be held at St Paul's Church, Woodhouse Eaves on Monday 8th June at 2pm.

Are you considering direct cremation?
They seem like a great idea - but what about those you leave behind?
No chance to say goodbye, no idea where or when the cremation will take place.
At Gamble & Sons we have taken a different approach to direct cremation. You or your loved one will be collected respectfully, you can come and pay your respects in our chapel of rest. There will be a proper coffin rather than a chipboard box. You will be informed when the cremation will take place and transported in our hearse to our local Crematorium with all the dignity and respect we show to all our families. There will just be no service or attendees.

Yesterday we were honoured to have been part of the funeral service of the late Shaun Carter who tragically passed at only 55 years of age. Our condolences go out to his sister, Michelle, Niece Caitlin and the rest of the family.
Huge thanks to WMC Mountsorrel for their support of the family and to Frazer Allen for another fantastic floral tribute.
