Meet Gemma our joint Registered Manager and Owner.
Gemma started her care career with Safe and Sound Homecare Services back in 1993. She has taken on various roles in social care before returning to Safe and Sound Homecare Services in 2018.
Here’s what Gemma has to say about why she took up a career in care:
My Nan had Alzheimer's disease, and from a young age I learned what it truly means to provide caring, respectful support to someone you love. That experience shaped who I am and is the reason we run Safe & Sound.

Everyone we support is so much more than a name on a list. To me, they're someone's Nan or Grandad, someone's mum, dad, partner or friend. They are family, and they deserve to be treated with the same kindness, dignity and compassion that we would want for our own loved ones.

Knowing that we can make a positive difference in someone's life, no matter how big or small, is a privilege that I never take for granted. That's what Safe & Sound is all about.

Steady on Your Feet is now available for residents in Bath and North East Somerset 👣

Steady on Your Feet is a FREE online falls prevention service designed to help people check their risk of falling and take action early. The website includes a short, downloadable self-assessment which produces a personalised action plan with practical advice on balance, strength, home safety and everyday activities.

The service is suitable for older adults, people who feel unsteady, and family members or carers supporting someone else.

🔅Tips for coping in hot weather🔅
Keep out of the heat if you can. If you have to go outside, stay in the shade especially between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat and light clothes, and avoid exercise or activity that makes you hotter.

Cool yourself down. Have cold food and regular cold drinks. Drink extra fluids but avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks, and have a cool shower or put cool water on your skin or clothes.

Keep your living space cool. Close windows, curtains and blinds during the day and open them at night when the temperature outside has gone down. Electric fans can help if the temperature is below 35 degrees.

Check the temperature of rooms, especially where people at higher risk live and sleep, and make sure to check on anyone who is at higher risk from the heat.
