👋 If you’re new here, I’m Josh.

I’m a physiotherapist and founder of BetterMe Physiotherapy Clinic in Rainham, Medway.

After spending 8 years working in the NHS, I wanted to create a clinic where people didn’t feel rushed, dismissed or like they were simply being given a sheet of exercises and sent on their way.

Because when you’re dealing with pain or an injury, there’s usually more to the story than just where it hurts.

I want to understand what’s stopping you from doing the things that matter to you

whether that’s getting back in the gym, walking without worrying about pain, returning to sport, keeping up with your children or simply feeling like yourself again.

And having experienced a serious injury myself, I know how much losing those things can affect you.

My approach is simple:

- Understand what’s going on
- Help you move and build confidence again
- Work towards the things that actually matter to you
- Treat the person, not just the painful body part

Outside the clinic, I’m a dad, gym lover, outdoors person, matcha addict and apparently someone who still thinks he can dance. 😂

Ultimately, my mission is to help people get their lives back from pain and injury.

“I’ve tried everything. Nothing works for me.”

If you’ve lived with persistent pain for months or years, I understand why you might feel that way.

You’ve tried the exercises.
The stretches.
The massage.
Maybe physio, osteopathy, chiropractic treatment, injections or medication.

Something might help temporarily…

Then the pain comes back.

And eventually you start wondering:

“What’s the point in trying anymore?”

But here’s what I want you to know:

The fact that previous treatments haven’t given you lasting relief doesn’t mean you’re beyond help.

Sometimes the problem is that you’ve been trying to solve persistent pain in the same way over and over again — focusing mainly on where it hurts.

Persistent pain can be influenced by far more than one muscle, joint or scan finding.

Your activity levels.
Strength and capacity.
Sleep and stress.
Fear of movement.
Previous flare-ups.
The way you’ve learned to protect your back.
Even how much attention and worry the pain now creates.

That’s why my approach isn’t about finding one magical exercise or “fixing” one structure.

It’s about understanding the whole picture, gradually reducing the things keeping your system on high alert, rebuilding your capacity and helping you trust your body again.

Because “nothing has worked yet” is very different from “nothing ever will.”

If you’re living with persistent back pain and feel like you’ve tried everything,

Comment INFO I’ll show you a different way of understanding and approaching it.

Tessa had been living with persistent back pain for over a year.

But it wasn’t just the pain.

She’d lost confidence in her body.
She felt overwhelmed by it all.
And she’d gradually stopped doing some of the things she loved.

After trying different approaches without getting the lasting change she wanted, she joined my Back Pain Freedom Method.

Over 12 weeks, we worked on more than simply trying to reduce her pain.

We worked on understanding her pain, calming the cycle of sensitivity and fear, rebuilding her movement confidence and gradually getting her back to the things that mattered to her.

And the result?

She got back to doing more of the things she loved with a completely different relationship with her back and her confidence in her body.

This is Tessa’s story.

If you’ve been living with persistent back pain and feel like you’ve lost a part of yourself along the way, I hope her story gives you a little hope that things can change.

If you’ve been living with sciatica for months… there’s something I really want you to understand.

Your pain is real.

But your pain is not always a direct reflection of what’s happening in your spine.

And this is where things can get complicated.

You have a scan.

You’re told you have a “bulging disc” or “degeneration.”

You start thinking about your back constantly.

You become afraid to bend.

Afraid to lift.

Afraid to exercise.

You Google every symptom.

You monitor every sensation.

And every flare-up feels like confirmation that something must still be wrong.

But pain is influenced by so much more than structure.

Your nervous system.
Your stress levels.
Your sleep.
Your previous experiences.
Your beliefs about your pain.
How much you’re moving.
And, importantly, the story you’ve been telling yourself about your body since this all began.

That doesn’t mean your pain is “in your head.”

It means your brain and nervous system are part of the pain experience.

And sometimes, after months or years of pain, the original problem isn’t the only thing keeping you stuck.

The fear, protection and constant focus on your back can become part of the cycle.

So the answer isn’t necessarily to stop moving.

And it isn’t to keep searching for the next thing that’s “wrong” with your spine.

Sometimes the way forward is learning to understand your pain differently, calm the system down, rebuild your confidence and gradually show your body that movement is safe again.

Because you don’t need to spend the next 10 years organising your life around your back.

You can start taking your life back.

If this is you and you’ve been stuck in this cycle for months or even years, comment “FREEDOM” and I’ll show you where to start.

From managing chronic pain… to feeling confident in her body again. ❤️

Raffaela has been working with me for some time now.

Alongside a demanding NHS career as a Chief People Officer, she’s been managing a chronic spinal condition and a complex medical history.

So this hasn’t been about finding a quick fix.

It’s been about understanding the bigger picture, building confidence with movement, gradually increasing what her body can tolerate and giving her the tools to manage her symptoms alongside a very busy life.

And the progress she’s made has been fantastic. 🙌

Not because her spine suddenly became “perfect”.

But because she has become stronger, more confident and more in control of her body and her pain.

That’s what I love about this work.

Real progress isn’t always about eliminating every symptom.

It’s about getting back to doing the things that matter to you without your pain controlling your life.

And Raffaela is a brilliant example of what can happen when we take a whole-person approach rather than chasing another quick fix.

If you’ve been living with persistent pain and feel like you’ve tried everything, there may be a different way forward.

I saw a patient today who’d been told that cracking her back would “solve everything.”

The problem?

It doesn’t.

Cracking your back might feel good. It might even give you some temporary relief.

But if we focus on one isolated factor and ignore everything else going on, we can easily miss the bigger picture.

Because pain doesn’t live in isolation.

Your back pain can be influenced by things like:

• Stress
• Poor sleep
• Your daily habits
• Your beliefs about pain
• How you move and behave
• Your overall activity levels
• And much more

That doesn’t mean your pain is “all in your head.”

It means your body is more complex than simply finding one tight muscle, one joint or one thing to crack.

If you want to get back to living your life confidently, we need to understand the whole picture - not just chase temporary relief.

That’s how I approach physiotherapy at BetterMe.

if you’re local to Medway and want to look at your pain properly, you can book an appointment with me via the link in bio.

Laura’s back pain started with a deadlift.

That was years ago.

But the frustrating part?

She never really got back to the things she loved.

Even exercises like hip thrusts had become something she avoided because of pain.

And over the years, she’d seen osteopaths, chiropractors and physios…

But she still didn’t feel like she had a clear way forward.

The problem wasn’t that she hadn’t tried hard enough.

It was that her pain needed looking at from a bigger perspective.

So we stopped focusing solely on her back.

We looked at the whole picture.

Her movement.

Her stress.

Her sleep.

Her habits.

Her behaviours.

Her beliefs and fears around pain.

And, most importantly, we worked on rebuilding her confidence in what her body could do.

Because persistent pain is rarely as simple as:

“Something is damaged, so something needs fixing.”

Your pain is real.

But there can be many factors influencing how persistent it becomes.

And when you understand those factors, you can start changing the relationship you have with your pain.

Laura has since been able to do things she’d avoided for years — and that’s the kind of change I want for my patients.

Not just temporary relief.

But getting back to living your life without constantly organising it around your back.

If you’ve been struggling with ongoing back pain and feel like you’ve tried everything…

You don’t necessarily need another quick fix.

You may need someone to step back and look at the whole picture.
