We are incredibly excited to support the brand new This Girl Can campaign driven by Sport England.

Our sport is always open to newcomers. We want to everyone to enjoy the benefits of getting outdoors and trying something as adventurous and exciting as orienteering.

Learn to navigate or hone your skills. National Navigation Award Scheme courses (NNAS) at Bronze or Silver, or bespoke navigation days out in the mountains, learn from an expert.

Outdoor First Aid Course – (Forest Based)
9th – 10th November.
The Island - Heaton Park – Manchester.
£110 including certification and manual.
Complies with the Institute of Outdoor Learning criteria for Band 3 Outdoor First Aid.
Run in association with Outdoor Adventurers Forest School who will host the course largely outdoors at their woodland base, the SMT Response Outdoor First Aid will be run with Forest School Leaders and the forest environment for Orienteers in mind, whilst also covering traditional mountain and water environments.
The award fulfils the criteria for the Mountain Training Association Mountain Leader and Single Pitch Awards as well as the British Canoeing awards and a range of other National Governing Body Award Schemes and Forest Schools. EFAW Certification included along with Paediatric Emergency First Aid (EPFA). An optional blended learning module at no extra charge will allow you to upgrade to the full Paediatric First Aid (PFA).
Duration: 16 Hrs minimum contact over 2 days. Certificates valid for 3 yrs.

Each year there are reports of people who have been attacked, or even trampled to death, by cows whilst out walking or approaching crags. In 2014, BMC member Simon Coldrick was badly injured after a cow attacked him as he led a fell race on the edge of Sheffield.
