We understand that many of you will, understandably, be worried following the very sad news that a student at Henley College has died with suspected Meningococcal disease and further cases have been confirmed. Please be assured that the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have advised that the risk of it spreading is very low and they are identifying and contacting any close contacts of confirmed or probable cases.

The Meningitis B vaccine was introduced to the NHS UK baby vaccine schedule in 2015. Therefore, anyone older than 11 will not have been offered a Meningitis B vaccine. The UKHSA has advised that there is no need to give the vaccine to those who don't qualify under the current vaccination schedule. We therefore only have stock for those who already qualify. The UKHSA will contact directly those it deems at risk to discuss vaccination. Men B vaccines are available privately at many pharmacies and private providers if you feel you would like your child to have one.

A vaccine for Meningitis ACWY is offered at school in year 9. If you are unsure whether you had this, please check your immunisation history on your NHS App first where possible. If you do not have the NHS App please contact us and we can check your health records.
If you did not have the Meningitis ACWY vaccine at school and would now like it, we are able to give this under the NHS schedule to patients aged 14 to 24 years. Please call us to book an appointment.

DISPENSARY CLOSED FRIDAY 22ND MAY & RELOCATING.

The dispensary will be closed on Friday 22nd May and will re-open on Tuesday 26th May. The whole surgery will be closed on the bank holiday, Monday 25th May.

Please ensure any medications due over this weekend are requested and collected from the dispensary before Friday 22nd, allowing 4 full working days’ notice from request to collection.

The dispensary will be relocated to half of the office behind the reception desk during this time. The reception back office has been moved upstairs.

From Tuesday 26th May the dispensary hatch will temporarily be the right-hand side of the reception desk. By the beginning of June, the new hatch will be open and located in the Self-Monitoring room – on the left when you walk into the surgery.

The Self-Monitoring room will be re-located to an area of the waiting room.

The other half of the office behind the reception desk will become a new consulting room, as will the current dispensary room.

We plan to carry out the most disruptive work at weekends but apologise for any noise or inconvenience during opening hours throughout this time.

Thank you for your understanding.
