Kathryn Mitchell, Soft Tissue Therapist

Kathryn Mitchell, Soft Tissue Therapist Soft Tissue Therapy including Sports, Remedial and Pregnancy Massage Treatments in Southcote, Reading. EASE, RESTORE, REDISCOVER MOVEMENT.

As a Soft Tissue Therapist, I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals experiencing minor and chronic musculoskeletal injuries or pain. My approach is also ideal for anyone looking to move with greater ease or reduce tension. I work using a combination of sports, remedial, and advanced clinical massage techniques, honed through training with the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM) and

the Jing Institute of Massage and Complementary Medicine. In addition to the above, I am also trained in pregnancy massage and hot stone therapy through the Jing Institute. I also have kinseology taping qualification. I am fully insured, a Member of the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage (ISRM), hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate, a BTEC L5 Professional Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy and a BTEC Professional Diploma in Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage. I have also undertaken further training in Mental Health specifically developed for Massage Therapists. Before embarking on my journey as a Soft Tissue Therapist, I was a Nursery Nurse for many years, working with children with additional needs and supporting vulnerable families. This experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of care and compassion, which I bring into my therapy practice. As a mother of two young adults, I understand the demands of a busy life and the importance of maintaining a healthy balance. Outside of my work, I enjoy photography, long distance and trail running, cycling, yoga and generally spending time in the great outdoors. SERVICES AVAILABLE:

What a lovely, sunny evening for a wind-down stroll along the seafront after another great day of training🙂

The day began with a spot of Tai Chi on the beach and was followed by experimenting with cornflour and water to replicate fascia (fond memories of my old Nursery Nurse days!). It ended with some amazing massage swaps as we practised our newly learnt techniques on each other.

I will definitely be sleeping well tonight🛌

Endure24 – Wow, what a wonderful weekend at Wasing Park🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️!

A massive well done to everyone who took part in Endure24 and ran through 24 hours of wet, windy, and often slippery conditions.

I hope you are all resting and recovering well today and continue to listen to your body over the coming days, prioritising sleep, gentle movement, good nutrition and general recovery.

It was great to see so many of you and to hear how much you benefited from the inter-event massage provided by the brilliant massage team.

A huge thank you as well for all the pats on the back, cheers, waves, words of encouragement, and support as I embarked on my own slightly crazy adventure over the 24 hours. It was very much appreciated🙏🏻!

I'm pleased to report I've been practising exactly what I preach today—plenty of sleep, rest, recovery, gentle movement, and, of course, some well-earned post-event massage😀!

Keeping you cool this week🥵😎!
(A stone is for heatwaves, not just for winter!)

With the heatwave and high temperatures set to continue this week, here's a little list of measures in place to ensure we both stay as cool and comfortable as possible during your time in the treatment room:

✅️ Cold stone option
✅️ Chilled flannels
✅️ Chilled water
✅️ Adjustable/earlier and later appointment time options (subject to availability)
✅️ Room fan, positioned at couch height
✅️ Lightweight, cooler linens

I was certainly grateful to run a few, spare, cold stones through my neck and shoulders after finishing work just now!

Hope you’re all enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend and making the most of the sunshine ☀️

With temperatures set to climb even higher tomorrow, here’s a gentle, friendly reminder that exercising in the heat puts extra strain on your body, increasing the risk of heat cramps and heat illness. A few small adjustments (including slowing it right down or taking an extra rest day) can make a big difference in helping you stay safe and comfortable though 💧🏃‍♀️🌡️

Being injured or in pain can feel frustrating and ask a lot of you physically, mentally, and emotionally. It’s understandable to want to fast forward to a time when you feel fully recovered, strong, and back to yourself. Healing and recovery can sometimes take time though – they are not always linear processes. They are often built through small steps and quiet wins that are not always easy to see.

Progress doesn’t always look like big breakthrough moments (although we do love hearing about these too as Soft Tissue Therapists!). Sometimes progress looks like the little things that have happened between appointments that we can recognise and celebrate the next time you are in the treatment room.

Here are a few reminders of what progress can look like:

• Shoulder issue? An increase in your range of motion that you can comfortably perform a task, e.g. reaching to a higher shelf or behind your back

• Pain condition? A reduction in your pain (0-10) or an increase in the duration of undisturbed sleep

• Lower back pain? A reduction in your pain (0-10) when putting on shoes and socks or standing

• Running injury? An increase in the duration or distance of your run with no increase in symptoms during or after the run

• Mental health, stress or tension? A reduction in stress or anxiety levels (0-10) or an increase in the duration of undisturbed sleep

• Sprained ankle? An increase in the amount of time you can balance on your injured side before wobbling

• Headaches? A reduction in frequency between appointments

• Hip issue? An increase in the duration or distance you can walk with no increase in symptoms during or after the walk, or a reduction in pain (0-10) when getting in or out of the car
