Last week we celebrated one of the simplest, most accessible, and effective ways to stay active - the bicycle.
Whether you're cycling to work, heading out for a weekend ride, or simply enjoying a leisurely trip with family and friends, cycling is a fantastic way to support both your physical and mental wellbeing. It's a low-impact form of exercise that can help improve cardiovascular fitness, build strength, enhance coordination, and provide a welcome break from the stresses of everyday life.
As a chiropractor, I'm always encouraging people to find enjoyable ways to move more, and cycling can be a great option for maintaining an active lifestyle while being kinder to the joints than some higher-impact activities.
Of course, like any activity, it's important to make sure your bike is set up correctly. Poor positioning can sometimes contribute to neck, shoulder, back, hip, or knee discomfort, particularly on longer rides. A properly fitted bike, good posture, and regular movement can help keep you comfortable and enjoying the ride for years to come.
So, whether you're a dedicated cyclist or haven't been on a bike in years, why not dust of that bike and jump on?
