We’re really proud to share that our Haematology team at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust has received a national award from 👏

The award recognises outstanding person-centred care and clinical innovation, and honours the legacy of Clinical Nurse Specialist Sarah Henshaw.

Our team was recognised for putting patients at the heart of everything they do. Highlights include:

▪️Bringing clinicians and patient representatives together to improve care across every stage of the pathway
▪️Working closely with patients and the Reading Myeloma Support Group to create a twice-yearly newsletter
▪️Developing a comprehensive programme to support patients before and after stem cell transplantation

Dr Pratap Neelakantan, Consultant Haematologist, said:
“We are incredibly proud to receive this award. It reflects the dedication and compassion of our whole team.”

Congratulations to the entire team for this well-deserved recognition 💙

💙 Every year we say a heartfelt thank you to our 300+ volunteers who support our staff to deliver high quality care to our patients and visitors.

As they do every year, our Chair and executive team hosted a special dinner for the volunteers who support a whole range of services across the Trust. Take a look here at some of the fantastic things they do for us all:

🛻 25 Buggy Drivers
👋 30 Welcome desk volunteers
🫂 20 Patient companions
☕ 25 Emergency department tea-trolley volunteers
💊 12 Pharmacy volunteers
🌟10 Berkshire Cancer Centre Volunteers
💙 30 Ward helpers

The annual dinner welcomed a special guest this year – Berkshire’s Lord Lieutenant Mr Andrew Try who also donned catering gear and helped serve the food in the Royal Berkshire Hospital restaurant and prepared by the Trust’s award winning catering team.

Mr Try spoke of the vital role played by volunteers and the gratitude we all owe to them for dedicating that most precious thing – their time – to helping others.

We love to celebrate our fantastic colleagues and recognise the amazing work they do with our StarCard awards.✨💫

Each month, colleagues can nominated their peers who go above and beyond and winners will be presented with an award.

Oke, Trust Chair, had the pleasure of meeting Jawwad, Noma and Eleanor, to present their StarCard awards. Each of them had made a huge difference to their patients and were recognised for their outstanding care.

Many congratulations to our StarCard winners! 🌟
