Recent news from Hull has understandably raised concerns about the care and standards families should expect from a funeral director. We ourselves are shocked and saddened that this has happened to these families.

At Meadowvale, we are proud to be a National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) member and part of a community of independent funeral directors committed to professional and compassionate care.

We are regularly inspected and voluntarily regulated under the UK Funeral Director Code. Families also have access to an independent complaints process through SAIF, delivered by an externally audited and Chartered Trading Standards Institute-certified body.
We also offer all our customers the option of viewing ANY part of our premises to give piece of mind that your loved one will be compassionately cared for.

We hope these safeguards offer added reassurance that families and their loved ones will be treated with care, dignity and respect.

Mrs Lynne Smee


We have been kindly asked to carry out the funeral of Mrs Lynne Smee, a much-loved wife, mother, and friend, whose passing has brought great sadness to all who knew her.
Lynne will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind cherished memories that will be held close forever.

A funeral service to celebrate Lynne’s life will be held at Kirkleatham Crematorium on Thursday 13th August 2026 at 1:00pm.

Following the service, all are warmly invited to join the family for refreshments and to continue sharing memories at The Cleveland Bay, Ings Road, Redcar, TS10 2DD.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week — a reminder that grief doesn’t follow a timetable, and that looking after our mental wellbeing is just as important as caring for our physical health.

At Meadowvale Funeral Services, we see every day how loss can affect people in very different ways. Some people want to talk, some stay busy, and others may struggle quietly behind closed doors. However grief appears, it is valid.

If you or someone you know is coping with bereavement, please remember:

A simple conversation, a listening ear, or checking in on someone can make a real difference.
