When a child seems fine but tired after school, sensory regulation may be doing more work than you think.
The school day demands constant low-level sensory processing - noise, light, movement, social input, transitions. For some children, especially those with sensory processing differences, this can leave very little in the tank by the time they get home.
Activities that feed the sensory system in calming ways, such as pressing, squeezing, deep pressure, slow rhythmic movement, quiet time in a familiar space, can all help replenish what the day has used up.
If after-school overwhelm is a regular pattern in your home, our team can help you find strategies that work for your child. Send us a message to start the conversation.
