π’ Important: UK Landline (Copper Network) Switch-Off by January 2027
By January 2027, the UKβs old copper telephone network will be switched off and replaced with digital landlines that work via your broadband connection.
β οΈ Who will be affected?
Anyone with a home phone (landline)
People using telecare alarms, medical devices, or burglar alarms connected to a phone line
Older or vulnerable residents who may not use mobile phones
π What you need to know:
Your landline will likely need to be plugged into your internet router instead of the wall socket
If you rely on any connected safety or medical devices, you should check compatibility now
Do not wait for the last-minute providers are already contacting customers
π What to do:
Contact your provider (BT, Virgin Media O2, Sky, TalkTalk, EE, Plusnet, etc.) as soon as possible
Ask how the change affects your home setup
Make sure telecare or alarm systems are upgraded if needed
