🌞 Looking Out for Each Other During Hot Weather 🌞

As temperatures rise, please take a moment to check in on neighbours, friends, relatives, or anyone who may need a little extra support.

πŸ’› Ask if they:
β€’ Are feeling unwell
β€’ Need any practical help
β€’ Need food, shopping, or medication collected

Stay Safe in the Heat β˜€οΈ

β€’ Avoid being in direct sunlight between 11:00am and 3:00pm
β€’ If you need to go outside, stay in the shade where possible
β€’ Wear sunscreen and a hat
β€’ Avoid strenuous physical activity during the hottest part of the day
β€’ Choose light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing, preferably cotton

Keep Cool 🧊

β€’ Drink plenty of water and cold drinks
β€’ Avoid excessive alcohol, caffeine, and hot drinks
β€’ Eat cold foods such as salads and fruit with a high water content
β€’ Take a cool shower or bath
β€’ Use a damp cloth on the back of your neck or lightly spray your skin and clothing with water

If you start to feel unwell, take action immediately and seek advice if needed.

For more information, including advice on heat-related illness, fire prevention, summer driving, and staying safe around water, please visit the NHS website.

Stay safe, stay cool, and remember that a simple check-in could make a big difference to someone this summer. πŸŒžπŸ’™

πŸ’› Loneliness Awareness Week πŸ’›

This week marks Loneliness Awareness Week, an important opportunity to raise awareness about the impact of loneliness and the value of human connection.

Loneliness can affect anyone regardless of age, background, or circumstances. It isn’t always visible, but it can have a deep impact on mental and emotional wellbeing. πŸ’

Small actions can make a big difference:
✨ Asking someone β€œAre you okay?”
✨ Reaching out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while
✨ Listening without judgement
✨ Creating spaces where people feel included and valued

Never underestimate the power of connection. πŸ’¬πŸ’›

Let’s use this week to be more mindful, more present, and more connected to one another.

Missing GP appointments is becoming a serious issue in many practices.

If you can’t make your appointment, please remember to cancel it as early as possible. Even a short notice cancellation can allow someone else who really needs care to be seen.

Every missed appointment means wasted time for clinicians and longer waiting times for everyone else. It also puts extra pressure on already busy NHS services.

Let’s all do our part if you can’t attend, cancel or reschedule. It really does make a difference.

πŸ’™ Learning Disability Week πŸ’™

This week, we celebrate the strengths, achievements, and contributions of people with learning disabilities. Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Let's challenge stereotypes, promote inclusion, and create communities where everyone feels respected and supported. By listening, learning, and working together, we can help build a society that embraces diversity and ensures equal opportunities for all.

Together, we can make a difference. πŸ’™
