DRY CUPPING: MYTHS VS FACTS π«§
Think cupping is all about leaving big bruises? Think again π
β MYTH: Cupping removes toxins from your body
β
FACT: Cupping may increase local blood flow and create a temporary change in the tissues, but your liver and kidneys are responsible for removing waste from the body.
β MYTH: The darker the marks, the more toxins you had
β
FACT: The marks are caused by changes in blood flow and tiny blood vessels under the skin. Darker marks donβt mean you had more toxins.
β MYTH: Cupping should be painful
β
FACT: You may feel pulling, pressure or tightness, but it shouldnβt be excessively painful.
β MYTH: Cupping is only for athletes
β
FACT: It can be used as part of a wider treatment approach for a range of muscular aches, tightness and recovery goals.
β MYTH: The marks are bruises that mean something is damaged
β
FACT: Cupping marks are temporary and usually fade within several days, although this varies from person to person.
π The important bit: Cupping isnβt a miracle cure. Itβs one tool that can be used alongside hands-on treatment, exercise and rehabilitation to help you feel and move better.
