We're looking forward to exhibiting at the full Autumn DFG Roadshow series, organised by Foundations - the National Body for Home Improvement Agencies.

With the government looking more closely at unspent DFG funding, the sessions at each Roadshow will focus on how services can speed up delivery, make better design decisions and reduce the avoidable confusion that slows projects down.

At Abacus, we work closely with occupational therapists, HIAs, housing teams and DFG officers to deliver person-centred accessible bathroom adaptations.

At the Autumn Roadshows, we'll be discussing how our end-to-end service, from client assessment through to installation and aftercare, helps streamline delivery while supporting more people to remain safe and independent at home.

- A new national framework for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) for 2027–2032 is currently being developed, to establish a long-term vision for the contribution of AHPs across health and social care.

The current consultation period gives occupational therapists the chance to have a say in the role of occupational therapy and AHPs over the next 10 years, presenting an important opportunity to shape future priorities and ensure that occupational therapy perspectives are clearly represented.

For Aurora and her family, a bath is so much more than getting clean.

Living with complex disabilities and using a wheelchair full-time, Aurora has always loved bathing. For her parents, a shower or wet room was never the right choice.

Her mum, Holly, explains:

"Aurora has always loved bathing, so we decided against a shower. We think all kids should be able to enjoy a bath."

When it came to finding the right solution, their Occupational Therapist arranged a visit from Abacus to assess the award-winning Gemini 2000 specialist bath.

Designed with unique dual-lift technology and an integrated transfer platform, the Gemini 2000 allows the bather to sit comfortably on the platform (or be transferred by hoist) before the bath and temperature-controlled water gently raises around them. The bath can then be raised again to reach the ideal carer height. This creates a safe, dignified and enjoyable bathing experience, while also making personal care easier and safer for carers.

"The Occupational Therapist wanted to see the Gemini 2000 to check she was satisfied with the extra safety and support it provided – she was very impressed."

Aurora Gaze and her parents Holly and Dan from Henlow,Bedfordshire, are experiencing the benefits of the Gemini 2000platform bath from Abacus,

At Henshaws Specialist College in Harrogate, a Gemini MX hi-lo platform bath has transformed the bathing experience for students with a wide range of disabilities, sensory impairments and medical needs.

Unlike traditional baths that require users to lift their legs - or have them lifted - over the side, the Gemini MX from Abacus enables students to sit comfortably on an integrated transfer platform before the bath sides are raised and the temperature-controlled water gently surrounds them.

Christina Dickinson, Lead Occupational Therapist at Henshaws, said:

"The beauty of this bath is that it opens up access to a wider range of bather abilities... It has made a huge difference for our students. It has supported us to reduce the risks associated with bathing while providing the leisure opportunities and therapeutic benefits that a bath can offer."

The Henshaws team also praised the support provided by Abacus throughout the installation and training process. Before installation, staff were able to experience the Gemini MX in an Abacus demonstration vehicle, giving them confidence in how the equipment would work within the college.

We were delighted to receive a testimonial highlighting both our team's dedication and the value of our Abacus Demonstration Vehicles in helping families and professionals experience specialist bathing solutions firsthand.

We visited a family in Islington last summer, with an Abacus Demonstration Vehicle, complete with a simulated bathroom and specialist power-assisted baths.

The family, their occupational therapist and the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) officer were able to see the equipment in action, discuss the family's needs and explore the most appropriate bathing solution with our product assessment team.

Following a specialist bath being installed, Rachel Reeder, DFG Occupational Therapist at Islington Council, shared the following feedback with our National Sales Manager Ryan Wilkes:
