Cancer treatment can take a huge toll physically and psychologically and it doesn’t always end when treatment finishes. Acupuncture can offer gentle support throughout, whether that’s alongside chemotherapy or radiotherapy (with your oncology team’s approval), or afterwards to help with ongoing side effects.

Bafeng points are being used here to help ease peripheral neuropathy, reducing feelings of numbness, tingling, or discomfort in the feet. A common side effect of chemotherapy. Points have also been used, throughout treatment, to support the mind and spirit, helping to restore a sense of emotional balance and resilience during what can be an incredibly challenging time.

If you’re navigating life during or after cancer treatment, I’d be happy to have chat to explore whether acupuncture could support you.

Using local and distal acupuncture points together to open blocked channels, helping to reduce pain, ease numbness, and restore smooth flow through the body.

Plus, the tatts deserved a moment of appreciation 👌🏻

From sunrise to sunset, I wanted to make the most of the gift of today…the lightest, longest day of the year. Because today, on the Summer Solstice, the moment the light reached its fullest expression and exuberance…the darkness began its return. From yang to yin.

In Taoist philosophy, Yin and Yang are inseparable, one cannot exist without the other just as sunset cannot exist without sunrise. And they are mutually transformational, one transforms into its opposite when it reaches a certain set point, just as night turns into day.

There’s something reassuring about that truth because we spend so much of our lives trying to stay in the “up” part of the cycle. We want the joy without the sorrow, the strength without the vulnerability, the growth without the rest. Yet Taoist philosophy teaches that trying to hold onto one side of the cycle is what creates suffering and tension.

When we learn to navigate the ebb and flow of life, rather than avoiding pain or becoming stuck and entrenched within it, we create space for transformation and next cycle to begin 💫

As I leave the hospice today, on the sunniest of days, I am reminded that the sun always returns. We can have snow as late as March some years, but Summer still comes. So if you’re in the depths right now…just know that the Sun will return, no matter how briefly. It always does❤️

I love supporting women postpartum and would never want childcare to be a barrier to anyone wanting to come for treatment.
So children and babies are always welcome in clinic, and what a great thing for little ones to see mumma looking after herself ❤️

Unexpressed anger in Chinese medicine is linked to Liver Qi stagnation, where emotions become trapped in the body instead of moving freely.

This can show up as:

* Headaches
* Tight neck and shoulders
* Taw clenching or teeth grinding
* Bloating (just below the ribcage)
* PMS or painful periods
* Frequent sighing
* Waking between 1–3am (when Liver qi is at its strongest)

If any of this relates, the following could help to get things moving:

* Speaking honestly before resentment builds
* A brisk walk (without your phone)
* Shaking out the body
* Screaming into a cushion
* Crying instead of suppressing it
* Deep sighing or breathwork

And of course…acupuncture💚

I often notice conversations with patients, although all different, follow a similar theme. I take it as a little reminder, that whilst we’re all different, the things we need and fear are often the same. These past few weeks it’s been trust and the huge amount of it that’s required when a patient first comes to see me. None more so than Yasmin, who was one of my first ever patients…

We weren’t working towards a pregnancy initially, that goal felt too far off, as the fear from her first pregnancy still lived in her body. But treatment by treatment, her trust grew…in me, in this medicine and most importantly in herself, her body, her inner knowing and once the life of her baby started to grow inside of her, it became absolutely resolute. It was a real honour to see and an even bigger honour to meet him.

So if trust in yourself and the natural unfolding of your life is wavering right now…I hope you know that although these periods aren’t easy, they aren’t empty either. They are an invitation to listen more closely, to learn more deeply, to open more fully to the people that want to support you and to get to know the parts of yourself that are often hidden when times feel more certain. They are the fertile soil from which you can grow.

I hope you can trust that you are not broken…you are in the process of becoming❤️
