I thought I’d share a little bit about why I decided to become an ear wax removal technician
A few years ago, I was on holiday in Turkey with my family. After a few days of swimming, playing in the pool and enjoying the sunshine, my right ear became completely blocked. I could barely hear anything. Then the same thing happened to my son in his left ear.
As you can imagine, conversations between us were not easy. We were both half deaf and saying “pardon?” every five minutes!
But as funny as it sounds now, at the time it was actually horrible. My balance felt off, I felt unsteady on my feet, and I felt quite vulnerable being away from home and not being able to hear properly.
After a couple of days trying to sort it ourselves, we finally saw the hotel doctor. He removed the wax using microsuction and warm water irrigation, and the difference was amazing. We could both hear again, and I remember thinking, “I want to do this. I want to help people who struggle with ear wax issues.”
So, when I arrived home, I looked into training in ear wax removal. I wanted to be able to help other people who are struggling with blocked ears, muffled hearing, discomfort or that horrible off-balance feeling.
That’s how Kernow EarClear came about, a friendly, local service to help people feel clearer, more comfortable and more like themselves again.
