🎉 Huge congratulations to our amazing Senior Care Professional Danielle McMorrin on passing her Level 1 Maths with Adult Learning! 👏📚

This is a fantastic achievement and brings Danni one step closer to completing her qualification—just one more level to go!

Social care has evolved enormously over the years, and strong maths skills are now an important part of the role. From understanding medication dosages to carrying out different types of observations and recording them accurately, maths plays a much bigger part than many people realise.

What an incredibly sad week it has been across the UK.

With so many tragic events making the headlines in recent days, our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, those who have been affected, and the families, friends, and communities now facing difficult times ahead.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Amy has completed her induction training and is the newest member of our Heart to Heart Home Care family.

Amy joined us in February 2025 as a Care Professional and Care Consultant, and has already made such a positive impression supporting our clients both in their homes and within the office. In her role, Amy helps to develop, review, and update personalised care plans, ensuring every individual receives care that truly reflects their needs, wishes, and preferences. We are proud that our care plans were rated “excellent” at our most recent inspection, and Amy is already playing a wonderful part in helping us maintain these high standards.

Since joining, Amy has settled in brilliantly and has quickly become a valued and much-loved member of the team. Her warmth, dedication, and enthusiasm are already shining through in everything she does, and we are so pleased to have her with us.

The growing pressures around medication access in England are creating new challenges for care providers, families, and most importantly, the people who rely on timely treatment every single day.

Across the NHS, increasing demand, pharmacy pressures, supply shortages and changes to prescribing processes are all contributing to delays in accessing essential medications. For vulnerable people receiving care at home, these delays can have a significant impact on health, comfort, and wellbeing.

We want to clearly acknowledge that this is not the fault of our local pharmacies. They too are working extremely hard alongside us, doing everything they possibly can within a very pressured system to support patients and providers. Their continued efforts and collaboration are genuinely appreciated.

At Heart to Heart Home Care, this is another barrier we are having to navigate — but one we are committed to overcoming.

Our team works tirelessly behind the scenes to liaise with GPs, pharmacies, families, and health professionals to ensure our clients receive the correct medication, at the correct time, with the correct support.

This week, we received incredibly moving feedback from the son of one of our clients, which reflects just how important this commitment is - see images below.

This is exactly what person-centred care means to us.

When systems are stretched, we don’t simply accept obstacles — we advocate, problem-solve, and do everything we can to protect the health and dignity of those we support.

A huge thank you to our dedicated team, who continue to go above and beyond every single day, often quietly and without recognition.

And thank you to the families who trust us to care for their loved ones. Your kind words mean the world to us.

💧 UTI Awareness – Know the Symptoms

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are common, especially in older adults, and early recognition is really important.

Here are some key symptoms to look out for:

🔹 Needing to pass urine more frequently or urgently
🔹 Pain or a burning sensation when passing urine
🔹 Needing to pass urine more often at night
🔹 New lower tummy pain
🔹 New or worsening incontinence
🔹 Blood in the urine
🔹 Pain in the lower back or kidney area
🔹 Confusion, agitation, or changes in behaviour
🔹 Fever, chills, or generally feeling unwell
🔹 A very low temperature (below 36°C)

⚠️ In older adults, a UTI may sometimes present as confusion or behaviour changes only, without typical urinary symptoms.

If you notice any of these signs, please seek medical advice promptly.

📞 Early treatment can prevent the infection from becoming more serious.

This Earth Day, we are proud to share a big step forward in our journey toward becoming more environmentally responsible and efficient in the way we deliver care.

We are now almost completely paperless, using digital care planning through an NHS-assured system, Carebeans Ltd.

This change means we are no longer going through hundreds of sheets of paper every week — but the benefits go far beyond reducing waste.

What this means for our clients and families:

📲 All care records are written and available in real time to our care professionals, supporting continuity of care and enabling quick follow-up on any concerns

📝 Families have access to a secure Family Portal where they can view notes, photos, and updates (with consent), offering reassurance and transparency

🤝 Communication with healthcare professionals is quicker, clearer, and more coordinated

📱 A client app allows clients and their families to view scheduled visits and see the name of the care professional attending

🏥 Managers have access to GP Connect, ensuring secure, up-to-date sharing of clinical information with GP practices to support timely decisions, safer care, joined-up communication across health services, and more effective monthly medication reviews

We believe this step not only supports the environment, but also enhances the quality, safety, and openness of the care we provide every day 💚

What a wonderfully productive day we’ve had!
Alfie (the grandson!) has been busy delivering Easter eggs to some of our lovely clients – spreading a little seasonal joy and plenty of smiles 🐣🍫💛
We then rounded off the day with a truly delicious meal at The Kings Arms in Reepham – the perfect way to finish a great day!
