A few snapshots of my workshops at Reading the Wild Lit Fest organised by Mandy from Books at the Dragon's Garden
Taking place in Llandovery it was a celebration of Nature writing, science and magic. I was really excited to be involved this year and offered four workshops, four pathways into a reconnection with Nature: Herbalism, Writing, Forest Bathing and Nature Journaling.
It was such a joy!
We based ourselves close to town including up by the Castle, by the iconic statue of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan (first slide). We enjoyed a different perspective on the town, perched above the rooftops and chimney stacks. It was a pleasure to spend time with like minded souls, sharing stories and memories, laughter and food. Thanks to everyone who chose to join me.
I've received lots of wonderful feedback and have so many ideas for more workshops like these! If you are interested to find out more, DM me!
I came away with the familiar feeling of "this really is the work I'm here to do" and the unfamiliar feeling of "I can do this, and I am good enough!" (ðŸĪŊ😅). I also came away with a new appreciation of The Stranglers....if you know, you know! 🙃
With love and Golden Brown on repeat,
Becky

I am nearly 4 weeks in to a Cleavers Spring cleanse. Infusing a big bunch overnight and drinking the delicious cold water medicine daily.
Cleavers AKA Goosegrass AKA Sticky Bobs AKA everyone's favourite - Sticky Willie - grows prolofically around the UK. It has a particular affinity with our Lymphatic system, and we can imagine it acting like a brush, gently scrubbing out our pipes and removing waste build up. It arrives at the perfect time as we move out of the stagnancy of Winter and into the more energetic Spring - our bodies benefiting from this annual Spring clean! Cleavers has a cooling affect on our bodies, and is a remedy that will also support the kidneys and reduce inflammation. The internal actions are often seen externally through improvements to skin conditions.
As with all plants the medicine that Cleavers can offer us is vast, and can certainly never be distilled into one Insta post!
My experience so far has been very grounding. I feel as though I am hydrating at a deep cellular level and I'm feeling more strong and steadfast, both physically and energetically. My body systems are communicating more efficiently and all of this overall is creating more energy - not a 'wired but tired' kind, but instead more enduring and steady.
Thank you Cleavers! 🙏
With love and hydrated cells,
Becky

The practice of noticing.
I was totally mesmerised by this, and the more I watch it back the more I see!
What do you see in the water?
Walking simply to wonder, to ponder, to notice, feels like a dwindling passtime. But it carries with it so much potential. It can support nervous system regulation, provide space for creativity and ideas to flow, time for the mind to step away from the to do list and the phone (although yes I do use it to capture what I see! Mostly on Flight mode). Time with yourself. Connection to and with the spaces you are moving through.
It doesn't have to be the perfect wild green space either. Urban spots also offer up a multitude of things worth noticing!
This was at Cardiff Bay, the edge between a modern city and its Port heritage. Pontoons, Wetlands, birds, boats, homes, the ryhmyic water, pubs, the Sennedd, and yes - lots of rubbish.
A guy walked past and asked what I had spotted, thinking maybe it was a fish. When I told him, he seemed a bit bemused. But I was really rather happy with my 'find', and the noticing continues...
With love and eyes wide open,
Becky

Spending time with Hawthron on a blue sky morning with a fresh breeze to wake you is one of those special moments.
On this occasion Hawthorn was quick to offer me some heartfelt wisdom - encouraging me to ponder where in my life I have allowed myself to blossom. And where I'm still holding on so tightly that those buds remain firmly closed! Looking up to the whole of the tree I see countless buds in various stages of blooming. I'm reminded that life is full of these blossoming opportunities and that they don't happen all at once! Life has a rhythm, it's a dance and we are all trying to figure out the right moves!
As this Hawthorn, or Mayflower, dances in the breeze I chuckle and walk on grateful for the beauty, the reminder and the love.
Beltane, celebrated around about now, is a time of building energy and a quickening pace. The edge between us and the rest of the natural world is thin, so communication can be easier too. Listen to what wishes to come through. Listen to your desires and cast spells of manifestation. Celebrate with fire to energise your life and help you take action.
And of course, move from your heart!
With love and Beltane blessings,
Becky

Freshly foraged Spring herbal tea in the glorious Spring sunshine - happy days!
Bare feet on the ground, moments of silence and hanging out with the plants that have chosen to grow in our garden. Looking after yourself and creating health doesn't have to be complicated or expensive.

Spring continues, and a walk out of the door offers moments of hope, joy and awe every time! The natural world that we belong to is a tonic for the heart and soul in so many ways.
When out recently the plant characters, AKA 'plantalities' (coined by Karl Elliot - Gough as an alternative to 'personalities') were leaping out at me! It's one aspect that we can use as Plant Folk to help determine which plant is right for which human when used medicinally ....it's also a bit of fun on a beautiful Spring evening ðŸĪâ˜€ïļ
Which one resonates with you the most?!

Nature Journaling has become a favourite activity of mine. It feels very nourishing as it allows me the space and time to record what I notice, the feelings I experience and the ideas that follow. My Journal is a treasure all of its own, filled with the treasures I collect, photograph or draw. I find it to be a very mindful, gentle practice that is a necessary antidote to the bonkers world out there, moving at 500mph.
And I'm so happy to be sharing this practice with others!

Tis the season of Wild Garlic and Nettle!
Today's lunch packed a tasty and nutrient dense punch - a soup made with both, plus Spinach (because more greens!), leek and potato. Adding some colourful garnish also pulled me away from the work laptop and outside into the Spring wind and rain! ðŸĪŠðŸ˜…
Can you spot what I added? 🌞
In her fabulous book - The Wilderness Cure - talks about the resarch done on long living cultures as we in the West try and discover their 'secret'. She noted that a daily partnership with herbs through homemade remedies, cooking with the herbs and herbal teas came up time and again, although seemingly passed over by the researchers. It seems to me that the cultures studied had maintained their traditional relationship to plants and are simply reaping the benefits. This tradition is one which here in the UK has been lost to the majority and pushed underground. However foraging and herbal medicine is definitely making a comeback, as we all remember what's most important - hopefully in the nick of time!
With love and a full Spring greens belly,

Finally a project I worked on during 2024 and 2025 has gone live! I was commissioned by the Welsh Water team at Elan Valley to co-create a Forest Bathing trail in Cnwch Woods. This is a stunning Celtic Woodland opposite the main Visitor Centre at Elan village in Mid Wales.
In collaboration with Emma and Amanda, we have created a Forest Bathing route which winds through this part of the site. New interpretation panels offer prompts along the way to encourage greater awareness and mindful interaction with the woodlands. There is also an accompanying leaflet which can be picked up at the Visitor Centre.
I was so happy to be asked to work on this, and loved the process - I am open to similar collaborations! 🙌
This project will help to encourage more people to get outside, fall in love with woodlands, experience their magic and drop into a calmer way of being - perfect!
I visited to take these photos on a cold blustery early April day. Imagine how different it will look when the trees are in full leaf and the sun is shining through the canopy? 😍

I've spotted this plant a couple of times in recent weeks, having only ever seen it in books before. Once locally on the newly opened Twyi Valley cycle path, and last weekend in Cardiff Bay. As you can just see in the 2nd pic, growing in a very urban area surrounded by buildings and concrete!
It feels like this plant - Fumitory - is asking me to notice it. To spend some time in its presence and listen to what may come up.
Bramble has been asking the same, although I'd say more like demanding! I keep getting caught up in its long tendrils, sometimes tripping over! I am surrounded by it at our new home and my phone even autocorrected my typing the other day, changing the text to Bramble!
Plants will call us in many different ways, gently attracting our attention or shouting at us by turning up in the most unexpected places!
Our job is to answer the call...and then? Nurture the relationship and learn from the journey! ðŸ’Ŧ
Have you ever felt pulled by a plant? how did you show up and what did the plants tell you?
With love and gratitude for the plants in my life,
Becky
