I probably don't need to say that 'It's hot!'.

I shared some information about immunotherapy dosing in heat earlier this week, so here is a reminder to also check your medications (of any kind) are stored correctly. Check what they are stored in, and check through the day as temperatures vary.

Please be mindful of not placing in the fridge or freezer unless it says specifically to do this on the instructions.

It looks set to stay warm for a few days yet, so if you have any tips to keep cool then please do share them below!

I have had a lot of questions recently about understanding the risks of 'May Contain' labels, what they actually mean, the risks with manufacturing of different foods, and the risks of flying with allergies.

There are so many nuances when it comes to assessing the risks, and understanding the science behind these can be so empowering. It means you can make the best choices for you or your family.

This is the resource I recommend time and time again: a talk by Dr Paul Turner, an allergist who has done a lot of work within the food industry, but also looking into the risks of airborne allergies on airplanes. Comment "Talk Turner" for the info.

I'm sharing it here again because it has helped so many people to understand, and make decisions.

Comment Talk Turner, and check your messages.

Allergy dads.

It's important to recognise how much these guys carry, and today we want to say thank you.

Dads do so much already. Add an allergy into the mix, and there's a whole different kind of weight to navigate.

Checking every label, carrying the AAI everywhere, having the same careful conversation at every party, playdate, or event they take the child to. Watching the pollen count, watching for symptoms, hoping today isn't the day their child struggles.

To the partners who support us and our children, often quietly, often without thanks.
We see you.

Here's to the ones holding it all together, while being a dad and managing their own emotions too.

Share this so the world knows how amazing allergy dads are.

(Happy Father's Day weekend to our own Dr Steven and Gareth, two of our allergy dad community, and of course all our amazing dads on the team).

If you saw my stories, you will already know this, but I thought it was worthy of a post.

The UK MHRA has approved the EurNEffy lower dose of 1 mg. The 1 mg dose nasal spray is indicated for children aged 4 years and over who weigh between 15 kg and 30 kg.

They previously authorised the 2 mg product, which is intended for adults and children 10 years and above weighing 30 kg or more.

It is not available just yet, but wont be very long (looking at Autumn but I will update you as soon as I know the exact date).

I am thrilled that those living with allergies now have more options available when it comes to treating anaphylaxis.

Please share the news.

Our clinics are inclusive. Not all disabilities are visible.

We are here to help you access what you need. A quiet space, or room with a little extra space? Need us to speak slower and explain things a little more? Whatever you need, our space is inclusive, accessible and here for all.

Let us know how we could make our space and services more inclusive for your needs.

Alt text: Image shows an empty clinic space with children's toys and calm sea picture. Text on the images explains how the space can be adapted to make appointments easier such as providing a quiet space, bringing someone with you, providing sensory toys, or removing ones that might cause distress, asking our team to speak more clearly, slower or provide information in another format

A little look back at The Allergy & Free From Show last month.

Attending shows like this is always such a joy. Honestly, the best part is meeting so many of you from the community. I could barely walk a few steps without being stopped by someone, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

There were so many brilliant stands, and some amazing food choices on offer too.

I spent some time at the Anaphylaxis UK stand, where I am a trustee and chair a scientific panel, before rounding off the day giving a talk with Dr Francesca Sawer on why a multidisciplinary approach to food allergy treatment matters. This was hosted by Amee Vivian.

It was also a lovely chance to catch up with so many colleagues who are doing incredible work up and down the country to support people living with allergies.

Until next time!

Is there a link between Asthma and Allergy?

With the school summer holidays around the corner, it can be a great time to tick off some things on the to do list, such as making an appointment to discuss where your allergies are in 2026.

It might be that you have suspicions but haven't seen anyone yet. It might be that you had a diagnosis and tests, but not recently, and you want to see if things might have changed.

We offer different types of allergy testing in clinic, and some remotely, when it is beneficial to the individual case. Sometimes we will actually advise against testing, and that can feel confusing.

If you would like to read more about allergy testing in general, and what we offer, comment TEST INFO below and I will send you a link to more information.
