Today marks our return to home education.
Over the years, my teen daughter Bella has led the way. She has unwound me from the old belief that education must look the same for everyone. Education can look different. It can feel a little scary at times. But grounding ourselves in our family’s instinct always brings us back to this path.
We have followed what Bella loves, weaving deep connections with nature and arts into our days. This term, we are also crafting with herbs.
Our goal has always been simple: provide the fuel for her to follow her dreams. She knows what she loves, and I know she will land somewhere wonderful.
Now that she is older, we are starting to look at the qualifications society requires for the specific path she wants to take. We will navigate that together, too.
Watching her follow her passion reminds me so much of my own journey. Home educating Bella is truly my first and most meaningful job, existing right alongside my work with yoga and sound. Both paths are rooted in intuition, tuning in, and trusting the process.
Here is to another year of learning outside the box.
Today’s snapshots include:
Morning nature study: Looking at seeds, seed dispersal, and the “why and how” behind them.
Handmade crafts: Rosemary wreath making, alongside our maths and English work.
Community: Thursday afternoons Bella runs and attends her own teen book club.
It is okay to follow what feels right. 🌱✨
