For years, I believed that confidence was something you had to project.

But I've learned that looking confident on the outside doesn't always mean you feel secure on the inside.

Real confidence isn't about wearing a mask—it's about healing the beliefs that make you question your worth in the first place.

I had the privilege of exploring this conversation with Dr. Tomi Mitchell on the Mental Health and Wellness Show. If it resonates with you, I'd love for you to watch or listen to the full episode here:

Your confidence is like a muscle. It isn't something you simply have - it's something you build. Something you practise. Something you strengthen over time.

Here are three key ways to help yourself.

Remember, self-confidence is the key that unlocks doors; self-doubt is the lock that keeps them closed.

She's rewriting the same email for the fourth time, checking every word before she hits send. Not because it's complicated - because she knows, whatever she writes, something in it will be wrong. It always is.

She's started arriving fifteen minutes early and leaving forty-five minutes late, not because the work demands it, but because she's hoping if she's just visibly trying hard enough, the criticism might ease off. It doesn't.

Nothing she does seems to land right. Last week she cried in her car in the car park before she'd even gone inside. She hasn't told anyone that.

Here's what she thinks the problem is: she's just not good enough at this job. If she worked harder, got it more right, her boss would stop.

It's actually not a performance problem. She's already doing more than the job asks.

This is a power problem - she's trying to earn safety from someone who was never going to hand it over, no matter what she did. You cannot out-perform someone else's need to have someone to blame.

This isn't a "not good enough" problem. It's a belittling problem. And no amount of overworking fixes a dynamic that was never about her competence in the first place.

I worked with a woman in exactly this position - a female boss who criticised everything she touched, a body that was quietly keeping score. She'd developed chronic fatigue, needing to be in bed by 8pm most nights, wiped out, battling migraines.

We worked on rebuilding her sense of her own worth, separate from her boss's approval, and helping her find the words to set boundaries again.

As the pressure lifted, so did her symptoms - she went from collapsing into bed at 8pm to having normal energy through the evening, enough to actually enjoy time with her partner again.

One month from now, that could be you - walking into a workplace where being early isn't a survival tactic, it's just because you like your coffee before everyone else arrives.

You say what you think in meetings and it's met with a nod, not a correction. Your evenings belong to you again, not to recovering from your day.

If this is you right now - overworking to please someone who won't be pleased, running on empty, and quietly wondering if you're the problem – send me a private DM with the word "ENOUGH"

and I'll share how to start separating your worth from someone else's approval, and take the first step toward a workplace - and a body - that actually feels like yours again.

She's sitting across from her husband, and he's just said "divorce" out loud for the first time. She feels almost nothing - a hollow calm, because some part of her has known this was coming for months.

No date night in over a year. Touch that's become incidental - a peck in the kitchen neither of them means. The kids are busy living their own lives now. She and her husband have become two people who share a calendar, not a life.

Meanwhile, work has just handed her more responsibility than she's ever carried, right when she has the least capacity to focus, she's had in years.

She thinks she's failing at everything at once. A worse wife, a distracted leader, stretched too thin.

It's actually not a "doing too much" problem. It's a control problem -usually rooted somewhere much older than the marriage. Somewhere along the way, being right, being in charge, having the answer became the only way she knew how to feel safe. At home, that means leading every decision. At work, it means never switching off. Same wound, two outfits.

One of my clients was here. A deep, old need to always be right - traced back to her childhood, long before her husband entered the picture. He'd stopped pushing back on anything, agreeing just to keep the peace, quietly feeling smaller in his own marriage. Divorce was a real conversation on the table. She learned to do what she'd almost never done: open up, be vulnerable, ask for help instead of having all the answers. They reconnected - intimately, and as people who actually talk to each other again. She said it was the first time they'd felt like a real team. As home settled, work got easier too - she was calmer, clearer, and finally able to deliver.

One month from now, that could be you - not with every answer, but with the grip of needing all of them finally loosening. You ask for help instead of white knuckling alone. You and your partner feel like teammates again, not strangers sharing a calendar. And that same steadiness follows you into work.

If this is you - carrying more at work than ever, while the ground at home has shifted -send me a private message with the word "GROUNDED", and I'll share how to find your steady footing again, even while everything around you is still in motion.

“It’s not the right time.” – Rachel’s Story

Rachel was spinning so many plates... work deadlines, caring for her parents, navigating a rocky relationship. “I can’t take this on right now,” she said. But beneath that was fear: fear she’d fail, that she wouldn’t follow through, that she’d start something and disappoint herself.

The timing excuse was rooted in self-doubt and a deep discomfort with prioritising herself.

But something stayed with her. A week later, she reached out and said, “If I don’t do this now, I never will.”

We created space in her life for healing, and everything else began to feel lighter. Rachel now says, “Starting before I felt ready was the bravest thing I’ve done. It gave me back my centre.”

Sometimes the biggest shift doesn't come from doing more - it comes from being more honest with yourself.

Where are you giving too much? Where are you staying quiet when you really want to speak?

The answers to those questions can change far more than you realise.

I shared more about this with Lynette Turner on the Midlife Women Entrepreneurs podcast. I'd love for you to watch or listen or watch to the full episode via the links.

✨ Do you ever feel that you’re not truly heard?

Like you’re constantly giving, keeping the peace, holding everything together - but deep down, you feel unseen, unheard, and maybe even unworthy?

Maybe you’ve learned to push your needs aside. To stay small so you don’t rock the boat. To carry the weight of anxiety, self-doubt, or strained relationships, without ever letting anyone see how much it’s really affecting you.

If this feels familiar, I want you to know: You are not alone.

For years, I lived with those same struggles until I found a way to break free. I rewrote the patterns that kept me stuck. I reclaimed my confidence and my voice. And now, I help women like you do the same.

I’m sharing my story here: https://heyzine.com/flip-book/689542e4cc.html

Because sometimes, hearing someone else’s journey reminds us that change is possible; that we don’t have to stay trapped in the same cycle. That we, too, are worthy of feeling empowered, heard, and enough - exactly as we are.

If my story resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you. Do get in touch and let's talk - because your voice deserves to be heard and you deserve to feel good about yourself too 💛

To the woman who looks like she has it all together… but is tired of carrying it all together!

I help brilliant women who look like they’ve got it all together but secretly feel like they’re never quite enough whilst overthinking and battling overwhelm, go from constantly second-guessing themselves to trusting themselves, communicating confidently and enjoying life beyond the mask - without feeling exposed or judged, even if they’ve spent years believing, “Maybe this is just who I am.”

Because often, the woman who questions herself the most is also the woman carrying the most.

These brilliant women tend to carry everyone else's emotional load. In truth they need to finally put some of it down. I help these women uncover what’s beneath their mask of coping and constant responsibility to be more honest with themselves about how they really feel, so they can create more balance with healthier relationships - without feeling exposed or judged, even while spinning their many plates of work, family and life.

This is the woman who is successful, capable and trusted by others.

The woman who gets things done.
The woman who people turn to.
The woman who appears calm and confident from the outside.

But behind the scenes, she may be carrying a much heavier reality.

She replays conversations.

Questions decisions.

Worries about disappointing people.

Takes responsibility for everyone’s feelings.

Finds it difficult to switch off.

She may have become so skilled at coping that nobody realises how much effort it takes.

And perhaps, after years of feeling this way, she has started to believe:

“Maybe this is just who I am.”
“I just need to manage everything better.”
“I just need to keep going.”

But what if the answer isn’t to become better at carrying more?

What if the answer is to understand what has made carrying so much feel necessary?

My coastal escapes are created for the woman behind the mask.

A safe, supportive space to step away from the demands of work, family and everyday life.
A space to understand what sits beneath the anxiety, overwhelm, self-doubt and constant responsibility - without pressure, judgement or needing to prove anything.

So you can trust yourself.

Communicate with confidence.

Create healthier relationships.

And finally experience the calm and freedom you’ve been longing for.

If this resonates, I invite you to learn more about my coastal escapes and book a confidential connection call to explore suitability and availability.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing a successful woman can do is stop trying to carry everything alone.
