I experienced the last session of my first long term client and I felt in a pickle all day. I’ve wasn’t really able to concentrate. I flittered around. My eyes hurt and they felt heavy.
I didn’t really click that my feelings of the day maybe attached to the ending of this client until I was sat trying to distract my brain with tv. Clock watching ready to leave. Feeling guilty for not doing other work.

Fast forward to after my clients session and I felt lighter. Like the ending was right. They were ready. I was ready. Calmness restored.

A reminder for myself as a play therapist that endings are hard for all involved and to be mindful that if I’m feeling like this…how are my clients feeling? Stepping outside post session really helped me ground myself back from the session. Another reminder how nature supports my nervous system.
