With the World Cup in full swing, the residents enjoyed their weekly, football based activity with local company Rise, who specialise in exercises for the elderly.

At Oak Mount Care Home we are all behind England for Saturday's big game. I know several of the residents are looking forward to watching it live, one of whom stayed up to watch the Mexico game at 2am!

Love this little charity just down the road in Fordingbridge. Louise and her team are awesome, offering vital relief for those who live with, and care for, people living with dementia. If you got a spare couple of pounds, please think about helping them out. We have donated as well to this incredible cause. 😍

As a born and bred Ringwood-ian I know how important Ringwood Carnival is to the local community. At Oak Mount Care Home, we always try and support local events and causes, so we are delighted to be sponsoring the event again this year. My youngest will probably be in the procession, but either way, we will be there on the big day to offer our support, and fingers crossed the weather is better this year than last! We look forward to seeing you all there.

Today we received a particularly lovely review on carehome.co.uk, which we thought we would share;

No questions need to be asked or answered, Oak Mount Care Home is a place of comfort, care, love, kindness & special people who look after those amongst us who need that care. These are people with big hearts. Managers don't just manage, cleaners don't just clean, chefs don't just cook (food is really good), carers & all other staff interact in the care of residents, My partner was not any 'easy' person but staff took time to know & understand him. When the end was near I felt surrounded by love and comfort. Thank you each & everyone of you.

We recently had a visit from Em's Friendly farm who brought their lovely pony to meet the residents, everybody had a lot of fun! They are coming again on Wdnesday 27th May @ 2pm, so please put this date in your diary if you want to come and visit one of your family members/friends as this would be a good day to do so!

We recently uncovered an old Southern Daily Echo clipping which we found at our sister home White Lodge from 1979 featuring an interview with my Grandma. She discusses running the care home, which she set up with my Grandad in 1962. My parents then took over the care home, adding Oak Mount in 1996 and I am now the third generation running both homes following their retirement.

Sadly, my grandma is no longer with us, but I feel as though I have done her proud by still running both homes with the caring ethos and homely atmosphere she believed in so strongly.
