The 2024 ‘Learning from lives and deaths – people with a learning disability and autistic people’ (LeDeR) report was published on 13th July. Like its predecessors, the report found that people with a learning disability are dying too young – 19 years younger than the general population.

People with severe or profound learning disabilities were more than three times as likely to die from a cause of death which is treatable than the general population. In many cases people would have survived if they had received timely and effective healthcare.

We are deeply concerned that the programme has been deprioritised.
