💉🚨 Flu and Covid 19 Vaccinations 🚨💉

📢We have pre ordered and paid for flu and Covid 19 vaccinations for all our patients (including any newly registered patients) who are eligible

🟥As per NHS guidelines,

From September 1st 2026-
✅ Pregnant ladies can have the flu vaccination.
✅ Children aged 2, or 3 on August 31st can have the nasal flu vaccination through their GP surgery

From October 1st 2026
✅ We can give the flu vaccination to all patients who are eligible

‼️Please note, we will start sending invites out to patients once summer is complete- however we can only physically give the vaccinations according to NHS guidance - see the dates above‼️

‼️Different clinics will be available, including our SUPER SATURDAY CLINIC IN MASHAM ON SATURDAY 10th OCTOBER‼️

Think Pharmacy First:

Did you know your local pharmacy can now treat an uncomplicated urine infection without you needing to see a GP?

If you're a woman aged 16–64 with typical symptoms — burning or stinging when you wee, needing to go more often or urgently, or cloudy urine — just walk in to your pharmacy. No appointment, no prescription needed.

Not suitable if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, have a catheter, or get repeated infections — give us a call instead.

If you have a fever, back pain, feel very unwell, or have diabetes — contact the practice or call 111.

Symptoms you shouldn’t ignore:

Most of these symptoms have causes that are not serious. However, it is important to get them checked—particularly if they are new, persistent, unexplained or getting worse.

Symptoms to be aware of include:

• Unexplained weight loss
• Drenching night sweats
• Coughing up blood
• Blood in your urine
• Blood in your poo
• A persistent change in bowel habit
• Difficulty swallowing
• A persistent, unexplained hoarse voice
• A persistent new lump
• Persistent bone pain
• Unexplained bruising
• Persistent, unexplained fatigue
• A mouth ulcer lasting more than three weeks
• Jaundice—yellowing of the skin or eyes
• Bleeding after the menopause
• A new or changing mole or skin lesion

You know what is normal for you. If something does not feel right, please do not put off contacting us because you are worried, embarrassed or think you might be wasting our time.

From Monday 13 July, the in-house transport team will launch a transport service for anyone living in North Yorkshire attending appointments or visiting a relative receiving care at James Cook Hospital.

This initiative will run for a three-month trial period, from Monday to Friday.

Buses will be departing from Friarage Hospital’s main entrance and arriving at James Cook’s north entrance. A fare of £10 will apply to both single and return journeys.

The service is designed to provide an affordable travel option for those living in rural and surrounding areas, who may not qualify for free patient transport or who find public transport unsuitable.

Operating as a return journey, the transport service will allow individuals travelling from Friarage to James Cook to return on the transport later the same day. The fare remains £10 whether travelling one way or making a return journey.

Booking Information

Bookings can be made by patients or their carers by calling the transport hotline on 01642838877 between Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

This dedicated number has been established specifically for this shuttle service and cannot be used for other transport bookings.
