MSK Clinician – Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist
Ripon, North Yorkshire
£32,000–£45,000 pro rata depending on training and experience

Cathedral Osteopaths is an established multidisciplinary clinic with an excellent reputation across North Yorkshire. Due to a clinician relocation, we are seeking an experienced Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist to join our team and take over an existing patient caseload.
This is an employed position with immediate clinical opportunities available.
We offer:
• Existing patient caseload
• Full reception and administrative support
• Established systems and patient pathways
• Focused Shockwave Therapy
• IDD Therapy (Non-surgical Spinal Decompression)
• Clinical support and CPD opportunities
• Flexible working pattern by agreement
Current availability includes Tuesday and Friday, with additional hours available for the right candidate.
Applicants should have previous MSK clinical experience, be confident managing patients independently and have excellent rehabilitation and exercise prescription skills.

✅Top 3 Tips for Plantar Fasciitis/Heel Pain:

2️⃣Wearing Supportive Footwear and/or using Arch Support insoles 👞🥾👡🥿👟
➡️ The plantar fascia acts like a band supporting your arch so if your arch collapses too much (overpronation), the fascia gets overstretched. Supportive shoes and insoles hold the arch in a better position
➡️ This takes pressure off the fascia so it can heal, distributes pressure more evenly
Without support, a lot of force goes straight into your heel (where pain is worst).
Insoles spread your body weight across the whole foot (rather than excessive force on the heel) and absorbs some of the shock of impact (Less impact = less irritation of the fascia)

⚠️ What to look for:
*Firm arch support (not completely flat)
*Slight heel cushioning
*A stable heel (not floppy or worn out)

‼️Flat, unsupportive shoes (like thin flip-flops or worn trainers) tend to make symptoms worse because they allow the fascia to overstretch again.

2️⃣Frozen Bottle Rolling ❄️
➡️ Rolling your foot over a frozen bottle helps with plantar fasciitis for a couple of simple but effective reasons:
❄️ 1. Reduces inflammation (ice effect)
The cold from the frozen bottle acts like an ice pack. It helps:
*Decrease swelling in the plantar fascia
*Numb pain signals
*Calm irritation caused by overuse or strain
🌀 2. Provides a gentle massage
As you roll your foot:
*It stretches and loosens the tight plantar fascia
*Breaks up small adhesions or stiffness in the tissue
*Improves blood flow, which supports healing

⚠️ Quick tip
If it hurts sharply while rolling, ease off—this should feel relieving, not aggravating.

1️⃣ Calf Stretches 🦵
➡️ Calf stretches help with Plantar Fasciitis because the calf muscles are directly connected to the plantar fascia through the Achilles tendon. When the calves are tight, they increase tension all the way down into the bottom of your foot (the plantar fascia).

Stretching the calves loosens this chain, reducing the constant pulling force. Flexible calves also help allow a smoother heel-to-toe movement when you walk. That reduces repetitive strain on the bottom of your foot over time, keeping plantar fasciitis at bay!

➡️ When the foot arches are properly supported, your foot doesn’t flatten excessively (overpronation). This means less stretching and strain on the plantar fascia, which helps reduce pain and irritation.

2️⃣Regular Icing, especially after activity

Cold therapy affects the body in a few helpful ways for inflamed joints. ❄️🦵
1. Reduces inflammation
2. Numbs pain
3. Limits swelling after activity
-If your knee becomes swollen after walking, exercising, or standing for long periods, icing helps prevent fluid buildup in the joint.

How to Ice safely:
Apply ice for 15–20 minutes at a time
Use a cloth or towel between the ice and skin
Repeat 2–3 times a day during painful periods
Especially helpful after activity

✅ Simple rule:
Swollen or warm knee → Ice
Stiff or tight knee → Heat

Ice: best for swelling and inflammation
Heat: better for stiffness and tight muscles
Many people with knee arthritis alternate between both.
