A broken heart isn’t always just a figure of speech.

Intense emotional stress can have a very real impact on the body. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, often known as ‘broken heart syndrome’, can temporarily weaken the heart and cause symptoms that closely resemble a myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack.

Our very own Dr. Karen Faulkner talks about why recognising warning signs and knowing when to seek urgent medical attention for any heart-related matters is paramount.

Every Summer, many of us focus on looking healthier, but with each Summer getting hotter and the next heat wave forecast, are we putting our hearts under more strain for that Summer look?

Crash diets, sudden bursts of intense exercise, dehydration, alcohol, and hot weather can combine to create unnecessary health risks, particularly for those living with undiagnosed conditions.

In a recent news article, our Associate Medical Director, Dr Olivia Wickens, shares why sustainable lifestyle changes will always outweigh quick fixes, and the simple steps we can all take to protect our heart health this summer.

Our Senior Leadership Team successfully completed a challenging 13-mile trek through the Lake District this weekend in support of Alzheimer's.

With steep climbs, challenging terrain and plenty of sore legs by the finish, it was no easy feat. But every mile was worth it for such an important cause.

We're incredibly proud of the determination, resilience and teamwork shown throughout the challenge, and we'd like to thank everyone who has supported the team through donations and messages of encouragement. Your generosity will help make a real difference in the fight against Alzheimer's.

huge congratulations to our Panthera team who took part in this year's Race for Life in Preston on Saturday in support of Cancer Research UK. 🎉

Despite an uncertain weather forecast, the rain cleared just in time and our team enjoyed a fantastic morning walking, jogging and running together for an incredible cause.

We're proud to share that, thanks to the generosity of our employees, friends, family and supporters, we have raised over £1,600 so far for Cancer Research UK. 💖

A massive thank you to everyone who participated, donated, shared our fundraising page or came along to support the team. Every contribution helps fund life-saving research and brings us closer to a world where more people survive cancer.

Well done to everyone involved – a fantastic team effort for a truly worthwhile cause.

This International Clinical Trials Day, Panthera Biopartners was proud to support Health Heroes HQ: Exploring Health Research — an event celebrating the impact of clinical research and the people who make it possible. 💙

As a UK-wide clinical research organisation, we’re passionate about helping more people understand, access, and take part in research that shapes the future of healthcare.

Our Sheffield team joined partners from across healthcare and research to showcase how clinical trials work and how everyone can get involved through a range of interactive activities, including:

🩺 Healthy Hearts Check-up Station
🔬 The Pipette Pioneer Challenge
🍫 Chocolate Challenge: Tasting Trial
📸 Healthie-Selfie Corner
🧸 The Teddy Bear Trial
🎨 Crafting & Colouring Activities

The event supported the NIHR Be Part of Research campaign and highlighted the power of collaboration between NHS organisations, universities, research teams, and industry partners across the UK.

International Clinical Trials Day commemorates the first controlled clinical trial conducted on 20 May 1747 — a milestone that paved the way for the research and innovation that continues to improve healthcare today.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, took part, and continues to support clinical research. Together, we are helping shape healthier futures.
