The NHS has launched a new online self-assessment tool for women who experience a bleed or spotting they’ve been through the menopause and who are not on HRT.

It’s for women in Bury, Salford, Oldham, Heywood, Middleton, and Rochdale.

Any bleeding from your va**na after the menopause (when your periods have been stopped for 12 months or more) should be checked out to rule out possible womb cancer.

You can now do this without booking an appointment with a GP.

A good news story for World Lung Cancer day and leading this is a friend of the practice who we’re very proud of!

Today is World Lung Cancer Day (1 August)

Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance has the highest proportion of early-stage lung cancer in the country.

Across Greater Manchester, between April 2025 and March 2026, over half (53.3%) of lung cancers were diagnosed at an early stage.
Part of this success is down to the NHS Lung Cancer Screening programme in Greater Manchester which is led by Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust with support from the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.

Since launching this screening programme more than 333,000 people have been invited for a lung health check. So far 202,000 lung health checks have been carried out and 139,000 people have had a low-dose CT-scan.

More than 1,750 lung cancers have been found as a result of NHS Lung Cancer Screening – 81% at an early stage where treatment is much more likely to be successful.

The HPV vaccine helps prevent HPV related cancers in both boys and girls – these cancers include cervical, a**l, ge***al, head and neck cancers.

Since the vaccine was introduced in England, there has been a drop in the number of cases of HPV and it is expected to save hundreds of lives every year.

It’s important to sign your child’s HPV vaccine consent form when you receive it.
