My heart goes out to mums as they navigate support for their kids for the big transition into adulthood.

It’s a time when we question who we actually are. A time for grieving. But also a time when we can finally start to think about ourselves.

I remember it well. Nine years ago I faced a summer when three of my four children left home within a month. (Before you wonder, it was nothing I’d done…one went to uni, one moved in with a partner, the other emigrated.)

It was hard! But I’m ready to share what I’ve learnt over the years and help you start your journey to finding your new path.

Wish you could change somebody or something? Don’t we all! My biggest bug bear at the moment is having to carry the mental load.

Talking is always good when there’s an issue. Finding compromise, compassion and empathy for the other person and thinking of the part we might play in the mix.

I support people by working through issues with them. I don’t give them the answers…who am I to tell them what to do? But I do help them think deeply about what it is they want or need and how to get there. I have tools I sometimes share. And theories. And many people find having someone who listens and understands and gives them an hour to focus on themselves and what’s important to them is worth its weight in gold.

This sphere of control is a useful tool and a technique I often come back to myself…thinking what’s actually within my control.
