It’s true. There’s not a person on this planet that hasn’t gone through some kind of anxiety/stress/upset/depression or any kind of difficulty that’s set them back. For some, they’ve been able to work out a way through it and get by. For others, it can knock the wind out of them.
The best thing you can do when these situations is to share it. For generations, men have been told to man up, pull yourself up by your bootstraps, chin up, stand on your own two feet. That’s all well and good, but we all need support from time to time and it’s better to share what we’re going through than struggle with it alone. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of us realising we want to move forwards and we could use an outside perspective to help us. We don’t have all the answers all of the time, so let’s turn to those around us that might.
At Man Down Hampshire , we’re all experienced at going through the rough stuff and, thankfully, coming out the other side. Our facilitators aren’t immune to difficulties, but we’re always there to listen and support. Our meetings are safe, confidential, judgement-free spaces, so feel free to drop in for a chat, or just to listen. Let’s help reduce the number of suicides, let’s help men understand they’re not alone. Let’s talk about it.
