⚽️ FRIDAY = ARMCHAIR EXERCISE! ⚽️

Friday means another visit from the Ross Outreach Programme for our armchair exercise session — and, as always, plenty of laughter along the way! 😂

A huge thank you to Jim. Your dedication to this community programme and the encouragement you give our residents is truly appreciated. ❤️

Today everyone was stretching, reaching, kicking and working those muscles — including a few muscles we think had been forgotten about! 😂 One of the exercises involves lifting and controlling a ball using the legs, helping to strengthen the legs, core and abdominal muscles, as well as encouraging coordination and movement.

And today’s champion was Pat! 🏆⚽️ She was absolutely unstoppable… we practically had to tell her to put the ball down and give everyone else a chance! 😂😂

A brilliant session that proves exercise can be good for the body and great fun too. 💪🥰⚽️

🌸 A Little Practice Goes a Long Way 🌸

Mo, Pam and Doll enjoyed a relaxing flower arranging session as they practised their skills ahead of taking part in St Mary’s Church Flower Festival later this month. 💐

With careful hands, plenty of concentration and lots of smiles, the ladies began preparing flowers and sharing ideas. It was a lovely afternoon spent chatting, creating and enjoying each other’s company.

We won’t give too much away just yet… but we’re all very excited about our project and can’t wait to share it with everyone once it’s complete! 🌼✨

🎉 Happy 93rd Birthday, Francis! 🎂🥳

Today we are celebrating a truly remarkable gentleman – 93 years young and still as sharp as a 21-year-old! 💙

Although Francis is only with us at Westbank for a short time on respite, he has already made a lasting impression on everyone. With his warm smile, quick wit and wonderful sense of humour, he’s become a much-loved part of our Westbank family.

Francis is one of those special gentlemen who represents a generation built on kindness, resilience, respect and hard work. A true gentleman in every sense of the word, he has countless stories to tell and always has time for a chat, leaving everyone smiling.

Today we celebrated with family, friends, plenty of laughter and, of course, a delicious birthday cake. Seeing Francis’s smile said it all.

From everyone at Westbank Residential Home, thank you for allowing us to share this very special birthday with you. It has been a privilege to celebrate your 93rd birthday together, and we hope your respite stay has been filled with happy memories, friendship and smiles.

Happy 93rd Birthday, Francis! 🎈❤️ You’re proof that age is just a number, and that a kind heart and a sharp mind never go out of style.

🏍️ Making Memories in Dementia 💙

Today was one of those truly special days that reminds us why person-centred care matters so much.

Before dementia, David loved nothing more than riding his beloved Kawasaki. Together with his wife, they travelled across the UK and Europe on their motorcycle, making memories and enjoying the freedom of the open road.

Today, David’s wonderful granddaughter and grandson-in-law, along with a few friends and family members, brought several of their motorcycles to Westbank so David could relive those treasured memories. There was absolutely no stopping him from climbing back onto the Kawasaki Ninja! 😄🏍️

The visit didn’t just make David’s day—several of our other gentleman residents thoroughly enjoyed looking around the motorcycles, chatting with the riders and reminiscing about their own experiences on two wheels. It sparked conversations, smiles and memories all around.

These are the moments that show the importance of knowing the person behind the dementia. By reconnecting people with the things they have loved throughout their lives, we can create meaningful experiences that bring joy, confidence and a real sense of identity.

And before anyone asks… yes, all risk assessments were completed! 😂✔️

A huge thank you to David’s family and friends for making today possible. It was a wonderful reminder that at Westbank, we’re not just providing care—we’re making memories. ❤️

🛍️☕ A LITTLE SHOPPING, A LITTLE SEARCHING & A LOT OF CAKE! 😂💜

June and Doll enjoyed a lovely few hours out and about in Ross-on-Wye today, and we certainly packed plenty in!

Armed with our Carnival Odd Object Competition sheet, we set off around town hunting for those sneaky odd objects hiding in the shop windows. 🔎👀 There was plenty of head scratching and a bit of “Are you sure that’s it?!” along the way! 😂

We managed to squeeze in some shopping and browsing 🛍️ before deciding we had earned a very important rest stop…

Coffee and cake! ☕🍰 Because apparently odd-object hunting is hungry work! 😂

A really lovely few hours enjoying our local community, plenty of conversation, laughter and a little retail therapy.

Shopping bags, competition sheet and full tummies — we’d call that a successful trip! 😂💜
