Following recent events regarding Robert Bush and Legacy Funerals in Hull; we wanted to take our time and reflect before responding.

We whole heartedly feel that his sentence was not enough, it does not reflect the actions that he knowingly and willingly decided to take. Everyone has a choice and there has to be consequences for the choices he made, and the choices we all make. We feel his sentence is not a deterrent for other funeral homes who feel that they can be flippant and
disrespectful when caring for a life that has been lived. The mortal remains of our loved ones should be protected in every way possible; we are never more vulnerable than when we have passed away.

At a very minimum he should have received a life sentence without parole.

As we know the government still fails all of us by not regulating the funeral industry. It is the choice of all funeral directors to be a member of a regulating body. For businesses that lose their membership due to failing to care and for those within that business at that time…they should not be allowed to continue within the profession.

The wording ‘Funeral Directors’ in the title of a company does not mean that individual is a Funeral Director; this only comes with passion, training, experience, qualifications, a knowledge of your industry and regulations of your chosen regulating body; regulations that you respect and uphold.

As a grieving family you should not be fearful of asking your nominated funeral home if they are a member of a regulating body. You should not be fearful of asking where your loved one will rest and who will be caring for them.

Although we do not know the families affected by that vile man Robert Bush; please know that we keep you and your loved ones in our thoughts 🤍

One thing we hear a lot after losing someone to su***de is how hard sleep can become.

When everything quietens down, thoughts can start racing, memories suddenly pop up, or your body just won’t seem to switch off. It’s tiring, frustrating, and unfortunately a really common part of grief.

If there’s anything that’s helped you get a bit more rest, even in small ways, share it in the comments. It might help someone else feel a little less alone 💜

The role of your Funeral Director….

Following a call at 2.00am from a lady, fearful at the pending death of her young husband, the lady chatted for over an hour.

The outcome of the call for the lady was reassurance and the knowing that whilst she sits awake through the night playing back in her mind all that has happened to bring her and her husband to this point in time…..there was someone on the end of the phone allowing her to share her fears, fears that she is unable to share with her husband & family.

The dark hours can enhance our fear, it compounds an already difficult journey.

There are many facets to the role of a Funeral Director. This is not a Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm role. Sometimes our office may seem unmanned, it’s never unmanned. Our responsibility can take us away from the office at times, we maybe bringing a loved one into our care or we maybe back of house caring for your loved ones. A Funeral Director carry’s out every part of what’s required for you and your loved one. This is not a role that keeps us behind our desk.

Please know that even if we are out of office, you can still call us, we are still here for you 🤍
