A little bit of a different day in my NHS role today… 🤍

Instead of being on the ward, I spent the day interviewing new recruits looking to start their own journey in nursing.

It’s honestly so lovely to sit and listen to people talk about why they want to nurse which included their experiences, their passions, what has shaped them and ultimately, what their own calling is.

It made me reflect on my own journey into nursing.

For me, my calling came from the loss of both of my parents. Experiencing loss and seeing healthcare from such a personal perspective shaped the kind of nurse I wanted to become. It gave me a real understanding of just how much the way we care for someone can mean, not only to the patient, but to the people who love them too.

Those experiences have stayed with me throughout my career and continue to shape the Clinical Sister I am today.

Because nursing is so much more than a job.
It’s about people.
It’s about compassion.
It’s about being there during some of the most vulnerable moments of someone’s life.

And ultimately… you get one chance to make a difference.

So hearing those today about why they want to make a difference to others was a lovely reminder of why I chose this profession in the first place. 🤍

Good luck to the next generation of those who are hoping to join us, I hope they never lose sight of their why. 🩺✨

❓Is the lower face really the problem?

One of the biggest misconceptions I see when assessing facial ageing is that if you notice heaviness or laxity around the lower face, that’s where we need to treat.

But the face doesn’t age in isolation.

Over time, we naturally lose volume and structural support through areas of the upper and mid-face. This can alter the way light, shadow and proportions sit across the face which sometimes making the lower third appear heavier or less defined.

That’s why I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to filler.

At your consultation, I assess your facial anatomy, proportions, volume loss and overall balance before deciding where, whether and what treatment is appropriate. In the case of this patient, we used a multi-layering approach across the cheeks using a total of 2ml of product.

Using TEOXANE, my approach is about subtle restoration rather than adding unnecessary volume. The goal is to support, balance and enhance your natural features while keeping your results looking like you.

Because the best filler results aren’t obvious.

“I daren’t have 1ml… it’ll look unnatural.” 👄

This is one of the biggest misconceptions I hear when it comes to lip filler.

1ml does not automatically mean big lips. The final result depends on your anatomy, your starting point, the product selected, where it is placed and, most importantly, the technique used.

That’s why I never believe in a “one syringe fits all” approach.

A detailed consultation allows us to assess your lips, facial proportions, symmetry, previous filler and most importantly, what you actually want to achieve.

Sometimes 1ml is appropriate.
Sometimes less is better.
And sometimes the most beautiful result comes from building gradually over time.
