Wondering how much lipoedema surgery costs?

The cost varies depending on the stage of lipoedema, the areas being treated, and the number of procedures required.

Most patients undergo 2–4 surgical stages over 12–24 months. Each stage is offered as a transparent fixed-price package, covering your surgeon, anaesthetist, theatre fees, hospital stay, compression garments, and follow-up care.

A question we hear a lot is whether private health insurance covers lipoedema surgery.

In most cases, unfortunately, the surgery itself is not covered, with many insurers still classifying lipoedema treatment as cosmetic or experimental. Some policies may cover an initial consultation or assessment, but this can vary significantly between providers.

Before making any decisions, always speak directly with your insurance provider and ask exactly what your individual policy includes.

Every policy is different, so it is always worth checking.

How many surgeries are needed to treat lipoedema?

This will depend on the stage and the individual patient:

• Stage 1 typically requires one operation
• Stage 2 may require between one and three operations
• Stage 3 may require more

My philosophy is always to achieve the best possible outcome in as few surgeries as safely possible. Fewer operations mean less exposure to anaesthesia, fewer recovery periods and better overall health outcomes.

Every patient is different, which is why a personalised surgical plan is essential.

Every procedure is tailored. Every detail matters.

Lipoedema surgery isn’t about removing fat. It’s about carefully targeting the diseased tissue while protecting the surrounding structures to achieve the best possible outcome.

Years of experience, meticulous planning, and surgical precision are what make the difference.

If you’re considering lipoedema surgery and want to understand your options, book a consultation to discuss the right treatment plan for you.

“Lipoedema isn't a real condition.”

It's a myth that too many people still hear.

Lipoedema is a recognised chronic condition that can cause pain, swelling, bruising, and reduced mobility. It is not caused by laziness or lack of willpower, and diet and exercise alone do not eliminate lipoedema fat.

Awareness leads to understanding, earlier diagnosis, and better support.

Smoking and surgery don’t mix.

Smoking significantly reduces blood flow to your skin and tissues, making it harder for your body to heal after surgery. This increases the risk of delayed wound healing, infection and poor scarring.

If you’re planning elective plastic surgery, stopping smoking before your procedure is one of the most important steps you can take to reduce complications and give yourself the best possible outcome.

Your recovery starts long before the day of surgery.

A transformative journey at the clinic.

Rather than removing a large volume in one operation, the treatment was strategically divided to prioritize safety, reduce surgical stress on the body and protect the delicate lymphatic system.

A measured, specialist approach makes all the difference.
