โ๏ธ๐ง Hot weather = higher water risks โ letโs look out for each other ๐งโ๏ธ
With temperatures rising and more young people heading to the water to cool off, weโre sharing an important reminder about staying safe around water.
Sadly, recent incidents highlight just how quickly things can go wrong. As school nurses, weโre supporting the Royal Life Saving Societyโs message:
๐ฃ๏ธ BE A MATE โ SPEAK UP โ SAVE A LIFE
โ
Be a Mate
Look out for your friends. Never swim alone and stick together. If someoneโs struggling, get help immediately by calling 999
๐ฃ๏ธ Speak Up
If something doesnโt feel safe โ speak up. Whether itโs unsafe swimming spots, alcohol around water, or risky behaviour, your voice matters.
๐ง Stay safe this summer:
Swim at lifeguarded locations
Avoid jumping into unknown water as hidden dangers can be life-threatening
Never mix alcohol/drugs with swimming
Cold water shock can happen even in warm weather
Check weather and water conditions before you go
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง Parents & carers: Please have open conversations with children and young people about water safety and the importance of looking out for each other.
