Rehabilitation Awareness week 14th-20th September
Achilles Tendinopathy
Many sportsmen and women will have at some time experienced an Achilles tendinopathy. They can be very persistent in nature and it's important to start with the right form of exercise
Slow progressive loading of the tendon, whilst keeping pain levels to a minimum, is currently best practice.
Restoring strength, stability, flexibility and balance to the whole leg and not just the calf and achilles should be a prority.
Other factors that can contribute to the injury such as poor running technique, incorrect footwear, tendon overload, weak core and glutes should also be addressed.
