Milward House - Pilgrims' Friend Society

Milward House - Pilgrims' Friend Society Milward House is a lovely Christian home situated in a conservation area close to Tunbridge Wells. A hairdresser visits once a week.

Fulfilled Living

In every one of our homes and schemes we express God’s love through compassion and care that helps people live life to the full - fulfilled living. Milward House has an active social life in which residents can take part or follow their own pursuits. We appreciate that each resident has their own individual interests, hobbies and pastimes, and we endeavour to support our resident

s to maintain this important part of their lives. Our residents are encouraged to lead the lifestyle that they choose, doing as much or as little as they want - residents can simply choose to put their feet up with a daily paper (by arrangement) or a good book from the home’s own collection. Our weekly programme includes activities such as board games, annual holiday week, hymn singing, food events, flower arranging, arm chair exercises and craft classes. There are also coffee mornings, clothing and book sales by mobile outlets and visits by local Christian choirs and musicians. A team of ‘Friends’ of the home support and befriend our residents by coming to see them on a regular basis. In addition, residents benefit from the involvement in the life of the home from likeminded Christians living in the Retirement Living housing units on site. Our Christian background is at the heart of both our values and our actions. At Milward House we try to create a community where Christian worship, prayer and support are a core part of daily life. We have morning devotions Monday – Friday, Sunday services, a monthly communion service and monthly Residents prayer meeting. There are a number of churches of various denominations within easy reach of the home. Around the Home

Enjoying a south facing aspect and lovely views from the front, Milward House provides residential care (including dementia care) in 25 rooms. The home also includes a purpose-built block of seventeen flats, built on three floors, each having a small entrance hall, bed-sitting room, kitchenette and toilet. There are several bathrooms with assisted baths and a walk-in shower. We have one large lounge and two smaller lounges. The main lounge and dining room are both located on the ground floor. The lounge gives access to a pleasant patio area which is wheelchair accessible and a popular sun trap with our residents, and the dining room looks out to the mature, enclosed gardens. A further, separate sitting room and a hobbies room are also located on the ground floor. A guest room is available for relatives and friends by prior arrangement. We enjoy showing visitors around the home, but request that if this is the purpose of your visit you call us first to arrange a suitable time. This allows us to allocate a member of staff to answer your questions. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at any time during the day, and there is the opportunity to purchase a meal in the home if they wish to do so, by prior arrangement. Accommodation

We love our volunteers. Some come during their holidays, some after school, some have retired and come during the day or evenings.

Each volunteer brings their own special contribution to the Home, making it a vibrant place to live.

Thank you for all you do to bring the community into our Home.

This summer has been so hot that even our normal flowers have struggled a little.

Sometimes, just looking at flowers can cheer us up, even when outside they are wilting.

Colours, shapes and scents can be great for some sensory stimulation.

At Milward House, we have a great team. Our recruitment is supported by our HR team at Pilgrims’ Friend Society . Do pray for them, for wisdom and insight in finding great staff.

Happy Friday everyone! 🌟

Today, we’re praying for recruitment across our homes and schemes. May God guide the right people to join our teams and give wisdom to everyone involved in the recruitment process.

Our ACE Susan was trying to model how to put a hat on to avoid the wind blowing it off.

Does this look like a character from a fairy tale?

Which one?
