Fancy a spot of fishing?

Well, the residents of The Ruddington did, but they didn't want ot bake in the outdoor sun - so we provided an indoor solution. They had a lot of laughs as they struggled to land the really big catch! Of course they will all tell you about the ones that got away!

A Brilliant Afternoon!.....

Friday was Balmore's annual Sports Day. What a fantastic afternoon of games and laughter. Thank you to the staff and residents of The Ruddington, St Peters and Orchard House for joining us - it was great to have all the elements of Ruddington Care Village at a single event.

Both staff and residents competed in lots of games, with winners and runners-up roundly applauded. Particularly popular with our residents were bean bag and target throwing, three-legged races, egg and spoon races, volleyball, and the staff tug of war... which was very competitive. Certificates, medals, and trophies were awarded in all events, and everyone was able to join in and enjoy the fun. There was a unanimous request from everyone for another Sports Day before the end of summer! We hope you enjoy the photos.

The Summer of Sport continues.....

A few of our lovely St Peter's residents enjoyed a fantastic afternoon over at their sister home, Balmore Country House, joining in with their Sports Day. The sun kept shining, and they had a great time, with our new resident Ray having the time of his life - he's certainly got some moves! We hope you are all continuing to enjoy the sunshine.

Our sporting residents.....

It's great when the residents of our four homes in the Ruddington Care Village come together and enjoy an event as a single community. This is what happened last week when we all descended on Balmore Country House for a Sports Day. Everyone had a really fun time taking part in a variety of events. It was certainly a hot one, but we made sure everyone stayed cool, calm, and collected and was in tip-top form for every event!

It has a wonderful calming effect on those who take part, and helping them to stay involved with their faith is an important part of what we do here at St Peter's.

Hello Ray.....

Here at St Peter's, we always like to give our new residents a warm welcome. So this week we have said hello to Ray. He has come to stay with us for two weeks' respite. He loves to colour, and there was some lovely engagement between him and a member of the staff as they indulged in a colouring session together. It's lovely when someone settles quickly, and we hope his stay with us will be a happy one.

Remembering Holidays Past.....

We all have memories of our favourite holidays, the best places, the most sunshine, etc, and of course one of the things we all recall is a great beach. So our lovely residents at St Peter's had a coffee morning recently that was beach themed. The idea was to get them talking about their memories of their own holidays and what beaches they liked to visit in the past. Well, we had a wide variety of locations and great memories, from home and abroad. One thing was clear: everyone liked the sunshine and to feel the sand under their feet. Throw in an ice cream or two, and it became a perfect day!

Yummy or what?

Here at St Peter's, we could think of nothing better to do on July 7th than celebrate World Chocolate Day. As if we needed an excuse to celebrate all things chocolate!! In addition to consuming a not-insignificant amount of chocolates and related goodies, our lovely residents also took part in a chocolate quiz!
It came as no surprise that a firm favourite on the day was the chocolate fountain - what's not to like!

Remembering the Swinging Sixties!.....

Residents at St Peter's were treated to a fab show recently when terrific local entertainers Kevin and Marie once again delighted everyone with their presence at the home. This time, their show was 60s-themed, and what a treat it was. Lots of the old classics and some fabulous costumes, reminding us of how colourfully people dressed back in the day. It was a huge amount of fun for everyone and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces.

Green fingers!.....

Sheila, our lovely resident at The Ruddington, has always been a keen gardener. So it's been no surprise to see her in the courtyard tending to our plants. She loves to keep busy, and a the garden will always welcome her green fingers!
