Dear Friends
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and following the latest government advice, we have take the decision with a heavy heart to close the Meditation Group until further notice.
The safety and well being of all of our members, attendees and volunteers is, ultimately, all that matters.
We will post on our social channel (Facebook) as regularly as we can, content that may help to uplift, sustain and support your meditation practice at home in the best way we can. If you don't already "like" the page, please follow the Facebook link below and click "Like" and you should then get our updates on your social media feed.
Following last week's session led by Kailash on using breathing sequences to boost your physical, mental and emotional well being to get through this difficult time, we are pleased to be able to share the set of written "instructions" Kailash promised. We hope you find them useful.
Here is the Pranayama (breathing) sequence to boost your physical, mental and emotional well being to get through this difficult time.
Practice for 1 min each or more depending on how much time you can spare. Take a moment between each step.
1. Belly to chest breathing â Deep inhalations and exhalations to expand abdominal muscles and chest. It helps if you keep a palm on both to feel the expansion and helps your mind to focus.
2. Breath of Fire â Keep one palm on your belly, inhale short and exhale forcefully from the belly. Feel your belly pumping and pushing in when you exhale.
3. Alternate nostril breathing â Place a tip of the index finger in the middle of the forehead. Use the other hand to control the breath through one nostril at a time using your fingers. Keep alternating the flow of breath with deep inhalations and exhalations.
4. Humming Bee â Place your thumb on your ears, middle two fingers on your eye lids and spread rest of the fingers on the face. Inhale through the nose, press your thumb to close your ears and make a humming sound as you exhale.
5. AUM â Inhale deep and exhale with the sound of extended AUM
We will continue to keep you updated via this email service as soon as anything changes. Please do reach out if you would like to maintain any distant socialisation - a friendly email to each other can go a long way and is a way of staying connected, just not in person. And do draw upon your meditation practice techniques you have learned in the group - a little each day goes a long way.
Wishing you all good health, both mental and physical, as we navigate this extraordinary time.
With love from our hearts to yours
Rugby Meditation Group.
