⚡️Morton’s Neuroma ⚡️What It Actually Feels Like⚡️
If you’ve ever felt like you’re “walking on a pebble” or getting a sudden sharp, burning pain in the ball of your foot, there’s a good chance it isn’t just your shoes misbehaving. Many people I see in clinic are surprised to learn that these symptoms often point to Morton’s neuroma, a small but very irritated nerve between the toes.
It usually sits between the 3rd and 4th metatarsals, and when that nerve gets compressed, it can send out all sorts of unpleasant signals: burning, tingling, numbness, or that strange electric‑shock feeling when you step down. Tight footwear, high‑impact activity, or simply the way your foot is shaped can all contribute.
The good news is that it’s treatable. Once we identify the neuroma, we can calm the nerve down with footwear changes, padding, orthotics, or targeted treatment depending on how irritated it is. Most people feel a noticeable difference once the pressure is taken off the nerve💪
