Meet Cindy. Student #14. Soon off to sunnier climes and I personally wish her all the luck in the world and who knows we might be able to hold a retreat together in a secret location in Europe once she’s settled!! I’ll start manifesting that 😉🧘🏽‍♀️❤️

You’ll learn lots about yourself and the science behind your yoga practice. Sometimes students want to stay at the level of asana - wanting to perfect their yoga asana repertoire but the real magic comes when you delve deeper into your mind!! I love teaching this workshop - loads of the fun and it’s interactive so you’re welcome to ask questions of course - plus it gives you the tools to think about the characteristics not only of yourself but of your loved ones (or your boss and colleagues!!) taking judgement out and bringing understanding in!! 2-4pm book on the Everyone Active app or drop me a line and I’ll pop you in to class.

I have never quite felt at home with the generic wellness imagery often associated with Yoga and Ayurveda.

The serene yoga poses, toned women, candles and neutral interiors may be beautiful, but they do not express the depth of what I am trying to teach.

Before becoming a yoga teacher, Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant and Gaja Life Coach, I studied Social Anthropology. My own Anglo Indian heritage and that background taught me - seemingly instinctively - to look beneath the surface: to consider history, culture, context and the ways knowledge is interpreted and passed on.

This is why I am starting to use carefully sourced historical images connected with Yoga and Ayurveda to represent my Life Coaching work, as this is the lens through which I coach clients.

One of these images is on the front of my website and is the Ayurvedic Man, a Nepalese work created around 1800. The figure is surrounded by passages from the 'Bhāvaprakāśa, an important Ayurvedic text, and is believed to reflect collaboration between an Ayurvedic physician, Tibetan artists and a calligrapher.

It is not simply a decorative image. It represents medicine, art, language and cultural exchange.

This shift feels much more aligned with my work.

Yoga beyond āsana.
Ayurveda beyond lifestyle trends.
Coaching that helps us understand ourselves and live with greater awareness.

Yoga is the practice. Ayurveda is the lens. Coaching is the process.

I hope you enjoy this approach - I hope you feel this when I am teaching you in class, or workshops or in private consultations.

Peace & Love to all. x

Student #13. Meet Anton. It’s great for me to hear how yoga supports you - particularly as an athlete bringing balance to what is essentially a demanding martial art requiring physical strength, technical skill, patience and composure under pressure. I love hearing everyone’s stories - so inspiring for us all in our yoga community!

Student #12.Meet Pravina - not only a Founder of Ledgr360, a company which is a financial organiser for UK families but a cool artist! Thanks for always supporting me Pravina and coming to class!

The simple things sometimes are missed, the warmth of the sun, fresh clean water, an embrace, maybe just waking up this morning is enough. Taking a moment for gratitude is a great practice, anchoring and rooting you to that which you already have within you or within your life! Give it a go!

Thanks to Giuseppe who showed me around circ_hiit this week. The space sits above a Boxing Gym so I’m thinking maybe clients of the Boxing Gym might fancy some yoga (devised specifically for them in the context of their sport to help them become better athletes rather than getting them into a handstand per se - as I’m trained to teach yoga to athletes). And maybe a beautiful collaboration could unfold! Or maybe some of circ_hiit’s clients would like yoga to complement their strength and endurance training? Also circ_hiit are planning to put some workshops together in the future where wellbeing experts can bring their expertise into the community! Watch their space and this! Personally I think the venue would be also be great for a rave (it’s sooo big!)

Student #9. Meet Sue - a Design & Tech teacher in a secondary school. I can relate to how difficult teaching can be in a school - I have taught yoga in schools and discovered a lot of it is about crowd control! Big up all the teachers - doing stellar work! 🙏🧘🏽‍♀️

Student #11. Meet Jag, a student of Economics and a calisthenics practitioner. Yoga asana and calisthenics go hand in hand : building strength, control and stability, mobility, flexibility, balance, breath and recovery. Together, they help create a body that is strong without becoming rigid, and mobile without lacking support.

Strength meets flexibility. Power meets presence. Thank you for coming to class Jag
